Introduction

The DVD Upgrade is an advanced modification to your DVD player, which adds extra features and enables you to get more from your machine. The upgrade supplements the DVD player and in no way harms the playback quality or removes any performance features of the machine.

Players Supported

The following DVD players are supported by this version of the DVD Upgrade:

 Sony DAV-C700
 Sony DAV-S400
 Sony DAV-S500
 Sony DAV-S800
 Sony CMT-S9D

Macrovision & CGMS disable

All DVD players have a system called Macrovision built in to the player, which is designed to stop the copying of DVD discs to video. However, this system can have adverse affects on some projectors. For this reason the DVD MOD Upgrade disables Macrovision to solve any problems.

User manual

Put your player into „Standby“ Mode and enter one of the following commands if necessary:

Remote control command Function
[0] [ENTER] Default Default region code on the player
[1] [ENTER] Region 1
[2] [ENTER] Region 2
[3] [ENTER] Region 3
[4] [ENTER] Region 4
[5] [ENTER] Region 5
[6] [ENTER] Region 6
[7] [ENTER] Region 7
[8] [ENTER] Region 8
[Arrow down] [ENTER] Only play DVDs with the selected region; auto switching OFF
[Arrow up] [ENTER] Default Auto switching ON
[PREV I<<] [ENTER] Enable video interference impulses (Macrovision ON)
[NEXT >>I] [ENTER] Default Disable video interference impulses (Macrovision OFF)
[Arrow left] [ENTER] Enable user operation prohibitions* and access restrictions
[Arrow right] [ENTER] Default Disable user operation prohibitions* and access restrictions

* The DVD can no longer prohibit you from using the fast-forward, chapter change or Audio-/Subtitle-/Angle switch. You can no longer be forced to watch intros. Just press [TITLE] or [DVD MENU] and select PLAY.

i have a pioneer dvd player, model DV-380. How can I make it region free.

For that you need to do a Google for "mymodel region free" or "region free hack"

Not all DVD players are capable of this often very simple modification that many manufacturers build into DVD player. (Usually just involves the remote control and a combination of keys)

Your search will turn up a lot of sharks that want money for the hack (fix)

IGNORE THEM

There are a lot of sites where the information is free.

If after opening up the region free parameter you still have issues and you still want to play your dvd's from around the world you might want to consider another one

I am STILL (lauren) unsure of FIXYA's policy on this topic and am awaiting further clarification on the issue with regards to handing out these codes as this is not HACKING in the same sense as pirate software etc. it is just enabling an extra feature that the manufacturer provided.
I would prefer not to get my @ss kicked. That is why I can only give you the search terms rather than site links or specific information

Hey I'm looking for a code to unlock my onkyo dv-sp302 to make it region free. at this stage it only plays region 4 but i need it to play region 1 as well.....are you able to help?

Region Code / DVD Player
DVD-player Sony DVP-NS715P r1/r3/r2-Japan don,t have solderless upgrade 
(Example: PDA, DESKTOP, IRC, CD-R and etc....) in 
variant MULTIREGION, and NTSC and PAL-enable, and Macrovision OFF. 

The modification of this player is done only through special 
Sony-Data-service-cable and special firm software through plugs 
On main-board (plug CN-103) and on IR-board (plug CN-405).
