I have kitchen aid glass stove top stove. Had to replace wiring and broke to glass when putting it back in. How do i replace it now with out breaking the new one?

1. Open oven door and remove two screws that secure top.
2. Lift up front and slide forward about 8 inches so that you can disconnect two wire couplings.
3. Place on table upside down(I put newspaper down to catch the broken shards of glass) and remove burner unit (1piece, 4 screws).
4. Place old burners on new stovetop in the same position as original.
5. Remove 4 white plastic shims (round) from old stovetop and put on new stovetop.
6. Tighten all screws and then sit it back on stove (two front tabs fit into slots) and then insert screws into holes and tighten.
7. Took about 20 minutes, including vacuuming broken glass from inside burners and cleaning grease form crevices between burners and old stovetop.
8. Wrap old stovetop in the newspapers that are underneath it and place it all in a plastic garbage bag to avoid any broken glass from falling out.

If you are referring to the bakelight material, this is an insulating compound and the burner still may work. I would not use this long term in this manner however. This material insulates as well as helping maintain an even heat transfer of the burner. Long term use, may cause damage to the cooktop. The burners are replaceable, but the prices vary depending on the size of the burner. The part numbers are as follows:

It's very simple to replace. Pull the stove away from the wall so you can access the back components.
UNPLUG THE STOVE FROM THE WALL OUTLET.

The spark module is located on that surface below the stove top. Carefully note the position of the old module and label the wires so you can put them in the new module correctly. There should be 2 or 3 screws that are holding the old igniter module in place. Remove the screws, install the new module EXACTLY as the old one had been, and connect your wires. DONE.

just typ in your model number, and find the part you want on the diagram. you can purchase it through them, too.

I don't know who can change one there but I know the tops for those unit run between 350.00 and 500.00 just for the top have you tried cleaning with a razer blade like creaning the paint off glass it works great

once they are broken they are broken you have to replace he whole top

im sorry about that.i have replace many of those running around 400$,that a lot of money.i have see glass top stoves on sale 4 that much.and i think they all are about the same as quilty goes.God bless,tom

All you can do is to have it replaced.
Most housemold insurance covers for this sort of accident.

I just replaced the top it is very easy if you know which screws to take out unplug the stove
LOTs of hidden screws so remember I only had 4 left overs.

First take the knobs off and the 4 black knobs below the real knob

Unscrew the black thing right under the knob this holds down the STEALESS steel cover for all your screws.

then start taking screws out of the fron the top sides and the screws along the oven door.

The screws near the top releases the glass and frame.
MARK COLOR CODE WITH MARKERS OR TAPE BUT DO IT BECAUSE you wont remember like me.

Wires unplug all of the connections that you see, P11 and P13 is where I had my problem they came off. the board eek

Be careful over lable I just exploded my stove when i put it all back together one wire came off I did not lable it.

IF ANY WIRE COME OFF read the ciruit board Schematic

In still workng on my stove I cant believe it blew up the board.
