Residue on dishes/glasses - Hard water? How to clean?

We have a Bosch dishwasher that is less than a year old. I use the name brand liquid dishwasher detergent and rinse aide but the dishes still come out with a residue. There is a significant amount of calcium build up on the soap dispenser, bottom filter, and top water sprayer thingy (don't know technical term). My thought is it is from hard water. What are your thoughts? If it is from hard water, what do you recommend to run through the machine.

Lots of Dishwasher Issues- I have a Bosch dishwasher that is approximately 1 year old. For the first 6-9 months it cleaned perfect. It would wash everything off the dishes and leave them sparkling clean...

Do you have hard water? Many states have passed laws that outlawed phosphate as an ingredient in dishwasher detergent. If you have hard water, the detergents don't work very well anymore. The residue is probably hard water deposits (calcium and magnesium). Not harmful but it looks awful on your dishes. There are some new products that were designed to solve this exact problem. They are inexpensive and effective. Can't say the name or I'll get banned (again). Internet search will uncover it.

Dishes are not coming out fully clean

first if the pump is running and you can hear it washing it should clean now hot water cleans dishes not the washer the hotter the better at least 130-135 degrees modern dish washers use less water than older models so if you don't get the water as hot as you can stand it at the sink before you turn the washer on you can fill it with cold water second its important that you use jet dry and if your dishes aren't dry at the end of the cycle then on most washers you can turn the disp up for more hope that helps let me know

Residue of dood, spices on dishes after cleaning

I would suggest calling whirlpool to have a tech come out and look at it. Your appliance is still under warranty if it is under 1 yr old. It will cover parts and labor.

Cloudy residue left on dishes, especially seen on glasses

They are called "rinse agents". Another brand is "Jet Dry". These chemicals cause water to be more slippery and sheet off your dishes, rather than stick as droplets. Some websites suggest you can use plain vinegar as an alternative, particularly if you are battling hard water.

New dishwasher leaving powder residue on dishes.

the problem is hard water and there is a new product out called the dishwasher filtration system. it actually filters the water going into your dishwasher and leaves your dishes spot free. after the first load i was amazed that the white film was gone and my dishes were sparkling. you can get it at www.dishwasherfilter.com.
