The laptop will work fine off of the AC Adapter. The charge light is amber (for charging) but never changes state to indicate charged. I replaced the battery. It came from Toshiba at 50% charge. It did not charge and the percent of charge is now 36%. The battery and the AC adapter appear to be working but the battery does not charge.
Does anyone know if the charge circuits are part of the motherboard or a separate, replaceable daughter board.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

You may have a bad DC connector:
Symptoms of a broken power jack
1. If you wiggle the power cord or the AC Adapter connector on the back of the laptop, the power LED and battery charge LED start to flicker.
2. Battery will not charge in the laptop.
3. Laptop runs fine off a charged battery.
4. With the AC Adapter connected the laptop appears to be dead.
No power LED or battery charge LED activity.
5. Laptop randomly powers off without any warning.

I did not believe what you stated at first but, I measured the voltage out and it was 15VDC. I then read the voltage on the AC scale and it was over 20VAC.
Now to find a power pack . . .
