There are 4 reasons why your unit is behaving this way:
1. Charger is the problem.
2. The docking station is the broken.
3. The battery is broken or not accepting charge.
4. The actual unit is the problem.
It is very hard to tell which one is causing this to happen.
Let us do some troubleshooting first:
1. Plug your charger in an A/C outlet and make sure the red power light (left) is lit, otherwise the charger or the docking station is broken.
2. You can test the charger with a multimeter. Unplug the charger from the docking station and measure the voltage across the outside and inside, it should register more than 5 volts DC. If there is a 5Volt DC the docking station is the problem otherwise the charger is broken.
3. If the red power light is lit and the status light (right) is lit too, your docking station is broken.
4. If the red power light is lit, dock the unit into the charger, the status light (left) should turn red when your battery is accepting charge or turn blue when your battery is fully charged.
5. If the status light will not lit at all (while the red power light is on), tap the screen while the unit is docked on the charger. If the unit will become alive, you need a new battery otherwise you need a new unit.

12 hours is very long time to charge, the status light should turn to blue in less than 2 hours especially for a new battery.

SOURCE: Logitech Harmony universal remote stuck in safe mode

Just a message to all that have problems with there Logitec remotes. My remote went into something called a "safe mode" when my partner changed the batteries while holding the power button.... I pressed every single button to try and get out of it but nothing seemed to work, (I was getting pretty frusterated, there is nothing in the manual to tell you how to fix this problem), however, I have now learnt that as you replace the batteries you need to have the number 2 button held in as you replace the last battery. This works 100% so if you have any trouble with the "safe mode" then this is what fixes it.

Carly.

I have a MX-350 universal remote and when I replace the batteries, it won't come out of "TEST" mode.

Could be a bad ground. Run a different ground wire and then try or sometimes the bulb housing is the ground, and the housing is not screwed in proper or it lost its ground somehow .

Hi; Is there a simple way I can fix the back light of my MX-500?

There is no "bulb" in the unit. The MX-500 provides power to an electroluminiscent strip that runs from the top to the bottom of the remote. When power is applied, the whole strip glows inside.

Sounds like your light switch is going bad. Not sure what the life of the EL panel is but the part number is A015-J1

Tv codes for universal remote

If you have a learning universal remote, such as the MX-500, just put the remote in learning mode, press the button on the universal remote you want to program then press the appropriate button on the other remote. Otherwise, we'll need to know also what remote control you have. They are not all alike.

Universal remote

The MX-500 has a learning mode that you can use. Press MAIN and ENT together for 3 seconds, then press the P-PRO button. Select the device then button you wish to program on your remote and then with both remotes facing each other (IR ports must be able to communicate) press the button on your other remote.
