I have a logitech harmony 880 lcd remote.
The situation:
We have two flatscreen tvs with the equipment hidden in a closet in a 1 bedroom apartment. The TV in the living room uses a wireless eye (no Logitech). The TV in the bedroom is controlled by the Logitech. Each TV has its own time warner dvr cable box ; the cable boxes are the same model.
The problem:
Both remotes control both TVs/cable boxes. This means that if one person is watching tv in the bedroom while someone in the living room is watching and they change the channel, turn off tv etc… it will not only do it to the tv in the bedroom but also the one in the living room. ….and vice versa
Any help is appreciated.
Unfortunately, there is no solution for this issue. The remote control sends out an infrared signal, which can be picked up as far as 40' away from the device. And to make things worse, the signal will reflect off any surface such as glass, mirrors, or even brightly painted walls.
The only way to solve the problem is to block the path of the beam to the other room. This may require closing a door or drawing heavy drapes closed.
