I have a GAGGIA SYNCRONY DIGITAL COFFEE MACHINE, model ref. 90001, which is about 8/9 years old. Recently a small amount of water as poured in the coffee bean container and since this happened the machine will not grind the beans. I am fairly familiar with this machine . I have emptied out the bean container and carefully cleaned the grinder unit of all remaining coffee particles. I have also cleaned a slight blockage (very slight) from the grinder head to the shoot where it dispenses to the central brew unit. When new beans were added to the bean dispenser and a coffee was programmed to brew the grinder runs constantly and then turns off after 20 seconds (auto shut off) and does not grind any beans for a brew. It acts as if the bean container had run out of beans. The grinder does not apprears to be pulling the beans down to grind them. The machine however works correctly when pre-ground coffee is added to the pre-ground compartment and brews a cup of coffee perfectly through the brew unit and then rejects the spent coffee normally. I can not understand why the machine will not grind the beans. I am sure it is not a major problem and I do not want to send it to Gaggia unless it is neccessary HUGH THOMAS

Hi You could have a micro switch in the doser that is going bad and needs to be replaced. They are a special micro switch that is very sensitive and can get stuck with a little coffee dust inside the switch.
The steam valve has been leaking on the inside for awhile, the steam condensed on the display board. You will have to replace the steam valve assembly and maybe the display board.
Either purchase packets of De-scale or purchase citric acid. Take 1 tbs and mix in water until completely dissolved. Use cold water. Pour into filling chamber. Run through machine. Rinse with purified water until all is clear. NO after taste. Don't use tap water in these machines. Use a purified water. Coffee still tastes good, and no calcium buildup!
If water light and heating lights go on and off, Try this: Fill water, turn water nozzle on, let water flow out. Water light should go off. Shut off water. If coffee lights are solid, turn off the machine, let it cool off and try the above again.
The steam valve tap rod needs to be replaced, or check machine if it has a plastic steam valve, Gaggia designed a new Stainless steel steam valve for the compact machine.
