My burners work, the digital display works, but no heating in the oven cavity. I don't smell gas. Help, what could it be? I just would like to know before I call repairman so I don't look so 'dumb woman'.
When i turn on my oven it blows the main fuse in the plug - it is a gas oven with electronic ignition. There is no gas coming out in the oven but all the burners on the top still work ok. Is this an electrical fault or a gas fault?

I have an older Kenmore gas stove. The oven stopped working this last week. Turning on the thermostat on the front of the stove does ntothing. There is no release of gas thru the oven burner tube and the ignitor does not start. Is there an easy way to determine what part needs replacing? I have an older Kenmore gas stove. My Top burners worked fine but gas oven would not light. Removed and tested the "glow" igniter. I used an ohm meter set to "200" scale and measured a new igniter at between 40 and 90 ohms. My old igniter was 148 ohms. Replaced it approx $60 and oven lit after about 20-30 seconds. NOTE: WHEN INSTALLING THE NEW ONE, DO NOT TOUCH THE GLOW ELEMENT. Do you see a bright glow in the oven area when the oven is turned on it will take 20 secs or so..If not your ignator maybe bad no gas will flow into the oven unless the ignt. is good

The ignitor is bad again,if it (ignitor) comes on but no flame/heat its the ignotor again, what would make the ignotor go bad so fast (usually last 10-15 years) is a problem with the oven burner, so now BOTH the ignitor and burner would need to be replaced,if it is 15 years old the ignitor is readily avaliable but the burner may not be

Personally I wouldn't describe an oven that doesn't heat up as working fine. You shouldn't have any air in your gas line unless this is the first time firing the oven, in either case the air in the gas line would work its way out eventually and the oven would light on its own.
Check to see if your ignitor is glowing before you hear the clicking, if the ignitor isn't glowing it needs to be replaced and is fairly easy to do so. If your ignitor is glowing you should check to make sure you are getting gas to the burner. The only way I would recommend checking this is with your nose, do you smell gas when the gas valve clicks? If you do then something is wrong with the burner, either dirty or the exhaust is too strong, or even gas pressure too low. If you don't smell any gas that doesn't necessarily mean no gas is coming out, at this point you should call a authorized service provider to take it over from here.
This sounds like a weak igniter, it would have to be a gas oven and the symptoms usually are: takes longer than normal to ignite the burner, may or may not smell gas in the oven, does not maintain set temperature or burner does not come on fully, eventually won't heat at all. On gas ovens, a glo igniter is like a light bulb, the more you cook, the faster it wears out. Bottom line, needs to be replaced. Good luck.
The holes may be plugged with residue. With the oven off! Try taking a paper clip and unplugging the whole. Make sure the ignitor next to the burner tube is secured and is not broken. These are under the bottom oven plate. Most models.
