Hey!Make sure that the driver is not pre-loaded on windows 7!I am sure it should be!Just go to printer in the control panel,say add printer and follow the steps!Where it asks for the disk it opens a window with manufactures on the left!Go to hp and it should be there!!Good Luck!

In Windows 7 you are working w/ the windows drivers or the HP drivers?
Usually the native drivers are best than windows so try working w/ HP drivers

It is compatible, and the driver is pre-installed on XP...just go through the "add printer wizard"

I can not find a win 98 driver for your printer on the HP website. DO yu have the instalation disk that was writen for win 98? If not try installing the printer through  the control panel. Either printers/fax or through install new hardware.The first being the preference. Some of the win OSs have printr drivers already installed.
If this does not work out, then the printer has no drivr available for that version of windows and you ewither have to upgrade to Xp or use a different printer which has a driver for win 98.
