On my recently installed Jensen VM9414, while playing a DVD, I can clearly hear the background noise/music, but I cannot hear the characters voices. I thought maybe it was the setup but have tried...

I've had this problem before, but not on this specific head unit. You most likely have your audio setup to 5.1 or other surround format, yet have nothing hooked up to the center channel output of the head unit.
Unless you've currently hooked up the center channel to an amplified speaker, or gotten out of a surround mode, you're not going to hear anything.

If you do have everything hooked up right and are sure the settings are correct, possibly a blown amp in the head unit.

I can't hear people talk, but they hear me.

Check your mic settings

Had a similar issues where I couldn't always hear xbox live chat conversation. Sometimes it would work, other times it wouldn't.. not 100% sure why though.

Tried different xbox, different controller and different Turtle beach head sets with similar issues

Setting the mic output to speakers allowed me to hear what people were saying at the expence of not being able to easily control the chat volume with the analog volume control on the chat head set cable.

Hope this helps

My mic isnt working but i can hear out of my headset

If you are running Vista, make sure that you set your mic as the default. Then check on vent settings and make sure that your output setting are set for your head set. You can then test your headset inside of the settings tab.

03 honda accord center vent removal

Your talking about the center dash vent assembly that wraps over the top of the dash correct. honda makes a special tool for this, however I use the hook from my 4peice pick set (it's got to be 4inches or longer). I stick the hook through the center dash vent and hook it on the inside of the air duct (not the adjustable vents) and simply pull toward you. you'll have to use a flash light to make sure you on the edge of the air duct. This pulls the clips and then you disconnect the hazzard switch and the sunlight temp sensor. -hope this helps

The person I am calling /trying to talk to can not hear me

You need to configure your microphone settings.
When you open Skype click on Tools - Options - Audio Settings and click on Microphone and select the microphone you are using and save the setting.
I don't know the audio/microphone setting for Phone Serve.
