I have a Lanier LP226cn printer. Under the alert status it is telling me to ''Prepare a New PCU'' and ''Replace CPU Black Soon'' I understand it means to replace my Black Toner soon as someone mentioned earlier. But what does PCU stand for? Thanks, Al

Sorry, You do not need Black toner, you need a Black PCU (Photo Conductor Unit).
I have this same printer with the same warning.
Unfortunately, This unit seems to be rather expensive.
Good Luck

My lanier is making dark copies

One of the most common reasons for a Lanier 5222 or 5227 to make dark copies is a problem with the drum unit or developer. Fortunately on those machines, the drum unit and developer are all self-contained in one easily-replacable unit, called the PCU (photoconductor).

If you don't have a new PCU handy, you can order one from the same company you get your toner from. The PCU should generally be replaced every 60,000 copies, but sometimes it may need to be replaced sooner (especially if you run a lot of dark copies or make a lot of copies of images) and it can often run longer than 60,000.

Replacing the PCU is easy -- it sits right next to the toner bottle, and all you have to do is slide the old PCU out and slide the new PCU in (once you remove all of the tape and other trappings from it). Instructions will be included in the box with the new PCU.

Please rate the effectiveness of this solution. Thank you!

Lanier lp226cn error code sc545 printer won't work, maybe a fuser error? new and has not been used enough for this to happen!!! Can I re-set this?

Hold the up and down arrows together for 10 seconds, and press ok. Select 2, for engine. Scroll to 7 or data log, press ok. Scroll to 7807, press ok, execute, exit all the way back to engine, and select 3 to end. Turn printer off and on. Try it. It is a fuser code, and it just might be dirty where the sensor touches.
