Olympus DS30 voice recorder play speed issue

I recently bought an Olympus DS 30 voice recorder.

I recorded 3-4 songs in my own voice and was able to play it back fine and everything worked perfect.

I just tried it again this morning and the play back has become SLOW.

I see in the menu that there is a setting for "Play speed".... I selected F.Play and set it to 1.5 (got a message that the speed is set).

However, the playback of all my recordings so far is still SLOW.

How do I change the play speed ?

Thanks

    I have the same problem.

  • doughewitt Nov 09, 2008

    you described how to play back at x0.5, x0.625, x0.75, x0.875  x1.125, x1.25, x1.375, x1.5

but not 1.0. i want actual speed and my DS 30 doesnt seem to know how to do that.

Hi, the solution to the problem seems to be the following. When u press play, once, you get 1x play. If whilst playing you press play a second time the DS-30 goes into slow play mode, and if you press a second time it goes into fast mode. For those of us who accidentally went into either fast or slow mode, just press the play button again, during playback, until "play" appears on the LCD screen. Apparently it is as simple as that.

The Olympus DS-30 gas SIX Playing Mode you can adjust them like follow :
1-While the recorder is stopped or during playback, press the MENU button for 1 second or longer
2- Press the + or – button to choose “Play Speed”.
3-Press the OK . The playback speed setup process begins.
4-Press the + or – button to choose between “S. Play” and “F. Play”.
5-Press the OK Start setting each of “S. Play” and “F. Play”.
6-Press the + or – button to set the playback speed.
S. Play: x0.5, x0.625, x0.75, x0.875
F. Play: x1.125, x1.25, x1.375, x1.5
If the recorder goes to the menu screen during playback, move the cursor to change the playback speed accordingly.
7-Press the OK button to complete the setup screen.
If the 0 button is pressed, the setting will be canceled and it will return to the menu.
Press the OK button 1 second or longer to go back to the menu screen in Step 1.
8-Press the STOP button to close the menu. If the recorder goes to the menu screen during playback, press the 0 button to close the menu screen.

Hope this help

Olympus ds-30 voice recorder

I don't think the serial number is required to install the software. I didn't see DS-30 information on the Olympus website. DS-40 was the closest one. No information was availbable regarding serial numbers.

I have a VN-4100PC and don't recall being asked for a serial number. The software is the same thing for all Olympus players.

The Play button controls speed of play back. If you hold the button two long it changes the speed. Press Play and then release and press again until the speed you are looking for is obtained. Be careful not to push the play button mulitple times once it is correct.
