To size or locate an impeller, you need PUMP information, NOT Motor information!

You'll need information from the pump that the AOSmith electric motor is attached to in order to get an impeller or any other pump parts. If there is no nameplate for the pump are there numbers on the impeller you need?

Remove the back of the motor ... you will find there are flats on the shaft. Put your 7/16 or 1/2 open end wrench there and with your other hand, spin off the broken impeller.

BUMMER THE IMPELLER IS BROKE U WILL NEED A NEW ONE. USE TWO BIG SCREW DRIVERS AND PRY TO BREAK THE IMPELLER.. THERE IS NUMBERS ON THE IMPELLER USE THESE TO GET THE RIGHT IMPELLER FOR YOUR HP MOTOR REMEMBER TO VOTE FOR YOUR FAVORITE FIXIT GUY ! THANKS JAY

check for a re-set button somewhere on the motor housing.

sounds like the motor is too small for the job.? has the motor been changed? if not -have the run capacitor checked by your local pool pump motor repair guy also the SF and HP must match the impeller size this number can be found on the front of the impeller and SF,HP can be found on the motor ID PLATE. gather all this info when you buy a motor or impeller .. very important ! . if you find you are stuck with you new motor the FIX is to get the impeller that is right for your motor
