Windows Outlook 2007 Won't remember Password

When I enter my password in Windows Outlook 2007 it won't retain my password even though I check the box "Remember Password". I continually get the pop-up to enter passowrd. I've tried everthing in Microsoft's support bulletin Article ID: 290684 - even deleting the registry in the sub folders under "Protected Storage System PROVIDER" and then restarting my computer. I have also tried creating a different identity but still get the pop ups to enter password. I have also tries Microsoft Office Diagnostics Tool. I am using Windows XP Pro Service Pack 3.
Thank you.

The best fix that I found for this problem was to completely uninstall OutLook 2007 (and any traces of it) and then reinstall it.

This solved the problem - it now works fine.

IMAP and POP settings for USA.NET email account

Here are the steps on how to configure Outlook 2007 to connect to your USA.NET account using POP3 or IMAP, please do the following:

* Click on Tools> Account Settings.
* Under the Account Settings window, click on the Email Tab, click New.
* Select Microsoft Exchange, POP, IMAP, or HTTP > click Next.
* Under the Auto Account Setup, place a check in the box called Manually Configure Server settings or additional types, click Next.
* Select Internet Email, click Next.

Next, fill out the following information:

* User Information
Your Name: Your Name (e.g., Joe Black)
Email Address: [email protected] (e.g., [email protected])

* Server Information
Account Type: POP3 or IMAP
Incoming Mail Server: pop3.postoffice.net or imap.postoffice.net

Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.postoffice.net

* Logon Information
User Name: [email protected] (e.g., [email protected] - This must be your full email address)
Password: USA.NET password
Check the box remember password if you would like the system to remember your password. Please note: requiring your password to be entered each time you open Outlook will ensure your email is better protected and will prevent others from

accessing your email without your consent.

Click on the More Settings button.

* On Outgoing Server tab, check the box My outgoing server (SMTP) requires

authentication and confirm that the radio button Use the same settings as my incoming mail serveris selected.

* On the Advanced tab, choose the following settings:
Incoming server (POP3) > Place a checkmark in the box next to This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) or Incoming server (IMAP) > Place a checkmark in the box next to This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)

Outgoing server (SMTP)
Enter port number: 25, 2525 or 465
Use the following type of encrypted connection: Auto

* (For POP3accounts only) On Advanced tab, under Delivery, adjust the settings to meet your requirements.

Click OK. Finally click Next, and then click Finish.

Gmail on outlook!

To use your Gmail e-mail account in Outlook, you must first make sure POP3 support is enabled in Gmail, and then you can add it to Outlook.
Log in to your Gmail account.
At the top of any Gmail page, click Settings.
In the Mail Settings window, click Forwarding and POP.
I don't see Forwarding and POP
Gmail is turning on POP3 support for users in phases. If Forwarding and POP does not appear, your Gmail account cannot be configured for POP3
support.
In the POP Download section, select Enable POP or all mail or Enable POP only for mail that arrives from now on.
Click Save Settings.
In Outlook, on the Tools menu, click E-mail Accounts.
Click Add a new e-mail account, and then click Next.
Click POP3, and then click Next.
Under User Information, do the following:
In the Your Name box, type your full name the way you want it to appear to other people.
In the E-mail Address box, type your e-mail user name followed by @gmail.com.
Under Server Information, do the following:
In the Incoming mail server (POP3) box, type pop.gmail.com.
In the Outgoing mail server (SMTP) box, type smtp.Gmail.com.
Under Logon Information, do the following:
In the User Name box, type your full e-mail address, including @gmail.com.
In the Password box, type your password.
Select the Remember password check box.
Note You have the option to have Outlook remember your password by typing it in the Password box and selecting the Remember password check
box. Having Outlook remember your password means that you won't have to type your password each time you access the account; however, it also
means that the account is vulnerable to anyone who has access to your computer. Use strong passwords that combine upper- and lowercase letters,
numbers, and symbols. Weak passwords don't mix these elements. Strong password: Y6dh!et5. Weak password: House27. Use a strong password
that you can remember so that you don't have to write it down.
Click More Settings.
On the General tab, under Mail Account, type Gmail.
Click the Outgoing Server tab, and then select the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication check box.
Select Use same settings as my incoming mail server.
Click the Advanced tab, and then under Server Port Numbers for both Incoming server (POP3) and Outgoing server (SMTP), select the This server
requires an encrypted connection (SSL) check boxes.
Change the Outgoing server (SMTP) port number to 465.
The Incoming server (POP3) port number should change automatically to 995 when you select the This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)
check box.
Click OK.
To verify that your account is working, click Test Account Settings. If there is missing or incorrect information, such as your password, you will be
prompted to supply or correct it. Make sure your computer is connected to the Internet.
Click Next, and then click Finish.
Notes
Do not select the Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) check box.
Unless specified by Gmail, all server and address entries are typed in lowercase letters.

This works for both Outlook 2003 and 2007!
