How install Kohler part no. 87988 in Santa Rosa

How install Kohler part no. 87988 Flush Valve Kit in Santa Rosa model ONE PIECE toilet? The plastic stand-pipe/flapper valve assembly has three prongs at the circular base at 120 deg. apart. It is not flexible and I do not want to break it when I press it down thru the rubber seal and into the circular hole in the ceramic tank body.

Any help appreciated! thanks!

John

Look under the tank, their should be a nut holding on the old one. by removing that nut the part should free itself.

What is a flush cylinder

It is really the valve that opens up to let water flow through the bowl when activated by the flush lever, to flush the toilet. it should prohibit water from flowing after the toilet flushes.

Kohler santa rosa fills, shuts off, a little water leaks from tank, toilet refills and repeats the leakage into the drain.

There is a rubber seal at the bottom of the flush valve that covers the openning at the bottom of the tank. If this rubber seal has perished slightly then it will leak water into the toilet bowl. This rubber seal need to be replaced to form a proper seal to prevent water leak.

Water spits out of toilet bowl when toilet is flushed

If your referring to the tank, take the lid off and make sure the small tube is connected from the filler valve to the top of the overflow tube. If that's connected properly, flush the toilet with the tank top off and locate the source of the spray. A small crack in the fill valve can cause a significant spray.
