Blue ghost image on the top left hand corner of my Hitachi 50V500A.

I purchased my Hitachi 50V500A Ultra-vision less than two years ago. Recently a blue ghost type cloud or blob began to appear on the top left corner of the screen. This cloud changes in shape very slowly after hours of use. This is a T.V. that is practically new and cost me around $2,000.00 and should not be happening. Does this have some type of simple solution? I have the same issue with the blue blob. The longer the t.v. is on, the larger the blob gets. What needs to be done?

I'm not very familiar with T.V's but it might be a problem with the colour gun or just the pixels.
The easiest and best thing would be to call the place where you bought it, you should still have warranty
and they should fix it.

Well thats all i got for advice.

Good luck.

There is not alot you can do yourself

I suggest that you call an agent for the set to give you a quote for repair. Something is goingout of spec in the set, and unless you are good with television repairs, then it is a job for a registered technician..

SOURCE: Blue ghost image on the top left hand corner of my Hitachi 50V500A.

You have a defective light engine and you do not have to be under warranty for Hitachi to replace this part. We just went through this and here's what you need to do. Call Hitachi's customer relations department at 800-654-7013 and tell them that you have a defective light engine. They will act like they've never heard of this problem but they have. They will give you the names of some certified dealers in your area to call. Once a tech comes out and confirms that it's the light engine, call Hitachi back and they will send a brand new light engine to the dealer and Hitachi will cover the cost of the part (cost $1500).

Here is the deal, if you're under warranty, Hitachi will cover the part and the install. If you're not under warranty, all you pay is the install. Our install cost $400. Others on this site have paid $200. Do not let anyone tell you that you have to pay for the light engine part...you do not. Hitachi has not recalled this part but they are replacing it for free. Also, deal only with Hitachi customer realations number that I listed. Good Luck!

PICTURE STUCK ON ONE CHANNEL, GHOST CHANNEL OVER THE TOP OF THAT AS YOU CHANGE CHANNELS...STILL SEEING THE CHANNEL THAT IS STUCK IN ONE PLACE... 55 INCH HATACHI ULTRA VISION....

This is called image burn, or image retention. There is no cure for this. The image has been burned into your picture tubes from having the same image tuned in for too long.

Cant locate the lamp in my hitachi 50v500a

your lamp is in the lower left hand corner, You must first remove the plastic front cover. You will see a door with screws on the lower left, remove the screws and the lamp will come out easily. When replacing it wear latex gloves and avoid touching the lamp as this will shorten the life of the lamp.

Blue blur on part of the screen...toshiba ultra vision

Do you normally leave this set on a specific channel...such as CNBC or BLOOMBERG tv...etc that maintains a regular scrolling image???

If so...on sets that are a few/several years old...the projection tv screens can develop what's called a "burn" or "burned image" on the screen...similar to wearing a path in your carpet from heavy traffic areas. Newer models do not have this issues...but many older ones do.

Blue Streak

I had the same problem w/ the same TV about 6 months ago. You need a new optical engine. Hopefully you are still under warranty. Once that was replaced, the tv looks great.
