Think that you might have accidentally pressed the DISP or DISPLAY button on the back of your camera. This manually turns the LCD display on and off to save batteries. You would then use the optical viewfinder in its place. To turn the screen back on, just press the DISP button one more time.

Canon 60D playback images turning up black

Did you switch to Tv (shutter mode) and took pictures for several seconds? like in the dark? Because saving the picture can take as long as the shutter time was.
Before panic. (Actually you never should panic) check your camera in automatic mode. And make sure you did not select any power save action, that puts your display on dark while shooting.
But always be sure your battery is charged and check its capacity. In the menu yo can check under the wrench symbol, when you select Battery info. Page 268 of the manual.
Working with a bad battery can damage the camera in the end.

Wont go to picture taking screen or playback menu

A lot of cameras seem to be having this issue (including myself). Eventually it got to a point where the camera doesn't even turn on properly anymore. Better take it back for repair, STAT before it ends up like mine :(

My lumix camera in playback mode has on screen tv

If you can get into the menu and find "reset" you could return the camera to factory settings.

My screen went black and I can't take photos. all other funtions work.

try to take a picture even when you do not see anything on its screen. If the picture taken shows up afterwards, you will just need to adjust the brightness for the LCD.

My olympus fe-170 lcd screen won't show ANY pictures.

it would appear that the lcd screen has malfunctioned and would need repair.... you can try power cycle by taking batteries out and press and hold power button down for 10 secs, draining all power out of camera, then put the batteries back in and try again

Screen black in all lighting. Icons and menu show and can view photos already on card, but screen black in all modes. Can take picture, but it is also black. Lens cover is open. Nikon Coolpix 4600. Thanks...

Hello, I went and researched a few points in the manual and hope this helps to some extent. If this doesn't help, try resetting your camera by removing the batteries for 30 seconds, then reinstalling them and turning on the camera again.
Monitor is blank:
• Camera is off.
• Batteries are not correctly inserted or battery-chamber
cover is not properly latched.
• Batteries are exhausted.
• EH-62B AC adapter (available separately) is not properly
connected.
• Camera is in sleep mode. Press shutter-release button
halfway.
• Monitor is off.
• USB cable is connected.
• AV/Video cable is connected

No picture is taken when shutter release button is pressed:

• Camera is in playback mode.
• Batteries are exhausted.
• Red (!) lamp flickers: flash is charging.
• Green (AF) lamp flickers: camera unable to focus.
• Message "CARD IS NOT FORMATTED" appears in
monitor: memory card is not formatted for use in your
camera.
• Message "OUT OF MEMORY" appears in monitor:
insufficient memory to record picture at current Image
mode setting.

When I plug in AV cable for playback on TV camera screen goes black

did you fully charge the battery before use when you bought the camera? and is it charged now? most cameras can take photos but not be able to hook up to download. because photos take less energy it may be that it has just enough energy to take a picture, but not quite enough to do anything else. i don't think your stupid, its just that some people don't think of the little things as be possible. also could check to see if there is any obstructions. (dirt, little pieces of plastic, etc.) on the main routing items. (memory card, plug-both ends, inside the camera housing itself). hope i could help GOOD LUCK!
