Call Samsung! They do recall even if it's out of warranty.
They set a tech to come and fix it for free.

Problem is the DLP chip. Don't think Samsung still doing that recall, but you can call them & find out.

Ours did this. It was a defective DLP chip. Samsung did a recall on these and offered a one time replacement free of charge. Ours hasn't had an issue with it since.

Hi, my samsung HLT5676SX/XAA tv, it has the white dot problem as half the production lot of this product. I have now a new DLP chip in my hands, how can I install it, do I take the whole tv apart and swap...
rauldp, what is the part number on your chip. Did Samsung send dit to you.

Mine started with only one small white dot..... just a week ago, now I have a freakin constellation!!!! (at least 30) . I am gonna call samsung today to see if they will cover this even though it's out of warranty. I believe it to be the micro mirrors

Samsung just told me they wouldn't fix my tv because it was produced in Nov. of '06 and the only ones they would fix were made in August of '06 or earlier. I am way too angry right now to call the service tech number they so very nicely provided.

White dots on screen of 50 Samsung DLP
Random dots or pixels failing on a DLP TV will be a bad DMD chip. This is a technician replace item only. The chip runs around 160 dollars list price. The part number will depend on which version the set uses and will be determined by the technician.

Numerous white spots on Smasung DLP TV
If your Mitsubishi TV has white spots in the picture , you can call Mitsubishi @ 1-800-332-2119 and request a free DLP Chip to fix the problem. They will send the New DLP Chip at no charge to a TV Tech in your area to install it for $200 flat rate. That is about a $250 savings if you had to pay for the chip . Call them with your TV's Model number and serial number and let them know when and where you bought the TV.
It saved me some hard earned money and now my TV is like New !
