Model ST315005FDM201-RK 1.5 TB external hard driver needed
Model ST315005FDM201-RK 1.5 TB external hard drive, windows 98 does not recognize, will work on all other computers, where do I find the driver for this?
Re: Model ST315005FDM201-RK 1.5 TB external hard driver...
Win 98 simply cannot address a drive that big. There is no way to make it work. The "Other" PC's must be running either XP, Vista, or Win 7 all those CAN address that size drive.

It is quite likely the drive is failed. If it is quite new it should still be within warranty. Return it to your place of purchase and get them to confirm it's condition. If the drive prooves faulty they should repair/replace it for you.
Sounds like driver problem to me. Re install the driver by using installation disc, or if you have lost your CD, than use this Driver Update Software to update. I hope this helped.

first try it on 2 other computers and if it is still giving you the same problem then download the latest software drivers from the manufacturer's web-site. if it still doesn't detect then the drive will need to be replaced because it is then a faulty device.
External hard drives don't need any program installed on your computer to run. Your operating system Windows, Linux should handle it as soon as you plug the usb in your computer. The programs included in your WD external hard drive are tools to backup your data.
If you try to hook up your hard drive to a Windows prior to XP, maybe your computer will not handle it.
It is always safer to safely remove your drive using the green arrow icon in the lower right corner of your screen. This way, the drive is shut down properly and you minimize chances of fails when you plug it again on another computer.
