Sharp Aquos LC-26D4OU HDTV volume adjustment problems

When I try to turn up the volume on the TV, it doesn't get very loud. The volume bar works, but the maximum volume of 50 is still not very loud whenI am watching the TV. When I am watching a DVD on the TV, the volume is much louder and maximum volume of 50 on the volume bar is very loud, but once we switch back to watching the TV the volume is much quieter. How can we adjust the TV to get more volume?

    tv volume adjustment

  • joonbug Jun 13, 2008

I have the opposite problem. I have my cable hooked up to my TV through my DVD recorder. I can watch cable TV at a volume of 25. To get the optimum volume on the TV for cable, I lower the volume on the TV to Zero, them raise the volume to the cable box all the way, then I raise the volume to the TV. That works for me. But when I put on a DVD I have to raise the volume on the TV to 50 and it's still not loud. Am I doing something wrong? Is there a volume associated with my DVD player that I'm not aware of?

My teenage son started fooling around with the HD box attached to the tv. This somehow unlocked the TV volume, so now the maximum 50 on the volume bar is very loud, for both dvd watching and TV viewing. Problem solved, although I don't understand the connection between the HD box and the TV volume.

Sharp Aquos LC42D85U 42-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV; turned all the way up just to obatin "normal" sound

  • Anonymous Feb 08, 2009

We have the same problem. Cable, dvd, apple tv, and vcr volumes are all fine. But, over-the-air digital tv at highest volume setting is often insufficient to hear the show. The channel seems not to make a difference but most of the time I'm watching weta 26.1 in the DC area. Open to any suggestions. fwiw, we get digital cable from cox using a cable card and do not have a cable tv box.

I have a 32", same low volume problem. Contacted Sharp and was told to bring it to a service centre but I may have to pay for work if nothing is wrong with it which is probably what will happen. Seems to be a common problem to all models. Guess I'll return it since they don't have a fix for it.

I found that the problem was also with my HD box. I was able to turn the volume up on the box.

My problem is that I cannot control the volume. It automatically move to the highest level and stays there. It is so loud that we cannot watch the TV.

SOURCE: Sharp Aquos LC-26D4OU HDTV volume adjustment problems

If you use a digital cable box, it could be that the volume on that isn't turned up all the way. I didn't even realize the box had volume controls until 2 years after I got it...makes a HUGE difference now

Can you hook something up to the aquos to get louder volume?

ARE YOU HOOKED UP TO A CABLE BOX? IF SO THERE IS A VOLUME ADJUSTMENT ON THE CABLE BOX TO HELP OUT. IF NOT I'M AFRAID YOUR ONLY SOLUTION IS TO HOOK UP A SURROUND SOUND SYSTEM.

Sharp Aquos 32"

TV is under warranty. Get a tech to look at it. It could require a new IR sensor, a firmware upgrade or a system reset that only a tech can do called an Industry Initialization that is in the service mode only

Volume control

I am a Sharp servicing technician and I have seen this "problem" with this particular model many times. I have tried replacing the Main Board and the Terminal Board and it does not help. The reason i put "problem" in quotes is because I came to the conclusion that this is model is just not that loud. However, a few months after the initial production run, BAM, these TV's are as loud as any other TV on the market so sharp must have caught onto this.

Volume issue

Very loud it never gonna be. It's a tv with very small speakers, but I have a lot of customers who complain about that and I checked first the signal source. Sometimes the sattelite receiver or cable box give a sound not so good. The best way to check it is to plug something (an antenna or just a 2 inch wire) in the coaxial plug to see if on the tuner is the same sound. I bet is gonna be stronger.

Yellow box with the letter "K" in it.

the TV needs to be reset with the Factory Initialization. Try contacting Sharp at 1-800-327-4277 for instructions.
