My Sony Grand Wega KDF-WE655 will not turn on. The green light blinks 100 times then stays solid. I hear the fan blowing but the lamp doesn't come on. In the past, the lamp would turn on eventually but now it doesn't come on at all. I replaced the bulb because I'd been having this problem recently and that was the most common recommendation. Unfortunately, it didn't fix the problem.

It is unusually to see BOTH of these flash codes together. I have never seen them at the same time. A 5 flash is a lamp driver error, which is possibly related to your lamp failure. You may have to replace the lamp driver or "ballast" to correct this problem. The 6 flash is a power supply problem and more serious, as it will likely take a technician to narrow down exactly where the fault lies. It may be a thermal fuse open OR a failure in the power supply itself. What was the original symptom that caused you to replace the lamp? Did you use an original Sony lamp as a replacement?

I fixed my problem by removing the lamp and vacuuming the hell out of the hole where the lamp lives and also getting all of the dust out of the rear ventilation grids with my vacuum. I put the old lamp back in and what do you know the TV has worked perfectly ever since. My lamp was over a year old and did not show any signs of hazing on the lens that you might see on a lamp that has a ton of hours on it. I just thought I would try to put it back in before I spent a couple of hundred bucks on a new lamp.
TA DA problem fixed.
