Just click on the switch off button and you can change it to online mode. Offline mode is generally present for in flight operation, also known as IN FLIGHT Mode.

I couldn't find the above menu items however i found an alternative: press the on/off button on your E71 and select General. The phone will then ask if you want to change from offline mode and allow network access.

If there's no other problem with your handset, you can simply deactivate the Offline Mode from Profile settings. Go to profile and activate another profile (name) like General or whatever you like.
But if there's problem doing this, you need to check the sim card first, try it on another handset, if it's working on another phone, then clean the sim card connector on your phone, try again and check, if the problem persists, your only option is to visit a Service Center or to a mobile repairing shop and get it repaired, could be software or could be with the sim connector alone. If it's gonna worse, you'll need to replace or jumper the sim IC which is not so simple and will only be able to do by an experienced mobile technician.
