I am getting ready to purchase a new cooktop. I have a Kitchen Aid and and the burner caps and grates chip and flake off revealing the iron beneath the enamel. What can I expect from the GE cooktop?

Is there a specific regulator for a Viking D3 cooktop or can I purchase one off the shelf?

If it runs on natural gas it has a lower pressure regulator than one that runs on propane gas. Nat gas is 1.1kpa propane is 2.75kpa

Adjust flame

Do not attempt to do this task yourself, you should call a Gas Safe engineer to solve the problem.

How to replace a cooktop drip pan

It's really simple. Remove the burner grates, removed the old drip pans, then drop in the new drip pans. You can order a new drip pan from partselect.com if you don't have one yet. Let me know how this works out and if you need any further help.

Viking pro 6 burner cooktop igniter won't stop clicking after lighting on two of the burners

Do not attempt if your stovetop is hot, you will get burned!!

This is an easy fix, the problem is your burners aren't lined up properly. Remove the iron grates (what your pots rest on) and the burner cap (the round black top on the burner) and finally the burner base (the round golden colored piece resting on the stainless stovetop). If you flip the base over you will see that it is keyed, meaning there is a grove that fits the indentation on the stove top. When you replace the base make sure to line the grove up with the indentation. If it's not flush with the stove top, slowly twist the round burner base until it falls into place. That's it!

Stained gas range burner grates

Hey y'all. I have the same lame GE profile gas cooktop with the gray grates and burner covers. I know this is the expensive way to go, but I use Easy-Off "self-cleaning oven" oven cleaning spray. For about $5, you get 3 cleanings. It is a pain to do, but I have better things to do than scrub these grates all the time. I don't know why, but the baked on crud just drives me crazy. I tried everything to clean them completely. I even tried to scrub the darn things with a kitchen pumice stone(sold at walmart)but it is impossible to get the curvy areas clean. Now the paint has started to wear off on the burner covers.

I do not use the oven cleaner on the cooktop itself. I use soft-scrub with baking soda, then cover the cooktop with a sheet of heavy duty aluminum foil and cut out holes for the burners. This keeps most of the spills contained, and helps with cleanup.

I visited to the GE parts web page, and they only sell gray grates and covers. I am going to buy black BBQ grill paint(spray can)from Home Depot and try it on the burner covers first. They are the least expensive to replace if it fails, and if it works, I will paint the grates with this high temperature paint. I will keep you posted on the results.

Regards,

Laura D.
