Your battery is probably dead. Do you have the same model of laptop with a known good battery in it? You can swap them and see if it charges. I'd put my bet on a dead battery.

Though keep in mind if you are running a version of windows other than XP it may not work. You can always try running in compatibility mode as Windows XP. To do that right click on the file and select Compatibility Mode then pick Windows XP service Pack 3
Click "Start" > Click "Run" > type "msconfig" > click "Ok" > click tab "Startup" > Click "Disable All" > click "OK" > Restart system - should take care of the slow performance of laptop.
There is no PCI-E slot on this motherboard. It has an AGP 8x slot and 3 PCI slots, but no PCI-E. Therefore, even if you could manage to get the PCI-E card physically into the slot it will never work.

Go into DEVICE MANAGER and see what info you get there about the card. It should give more info on DRIVERS, IRQ, etc. Maybe it is having a conflict with another device. Also maybe re-install the software or go to Mfgs. website to check for patches or up-dates.
In order to find the drivers that would fix this problem.
Itseems that there was a Vista (and possibly XP) upgrade that broke aConnexant sound driver. The US/Canandian support sites have an olddriver(3.44) while the European site has a brand spanking new driver(4.8.0.0.12.14) that fixed the problem for me. It's even labeled as a"World Wide" driver so I have no idea why the US/Canadian toshibasupport sites still have the old one.
