Vacuum Belt keep breaking

I have replaced the belt on my Dirt Devil Breeze upright bagless vacuum once already. I vacuumed the majority of the house, then started to smell rubber burning. I found that the motor shaft (where the bottom part of the belt wraps around) is too hot and is melting the rubber belt. Is there a piece that is missing? Should there be an additional piece around the motor shaft to prevent this from happening or is it a problem with the motor?

When your first belt burnt, the burnt plastics goes into the roller ends and then it dries off causing your roller to not turn or put more pressure on your belt. Until you clean that you will continue burning your belts soon after you put them in. You need to add a little bit of WD40 or any other type of lubricant after you remove the tar from the roller.

Why does the belt keeps comming off

Hello! If your belt keeps coming off, this usually means the belt is stretched and needs to be replaced. The Dirt Devil Breeze takes a Dirt Devil style 4 belt. Follow the link below to purchase the replacement belt. Hope this helps!

How do I repalce the belt on Dirt Devil Swivel Glide upright vac?

Four screws hold the bottom plate in place. Turn the vac upside down and remove the screws that hold the cover(bottom plate) over the brush roll in place. Remove the plate and you are there.

It sounds like either the bearings are seized, or there is debris in the assembly. You will probably need to dismantle the vacuum and clean everything out. It's not unusual for vacuum s to get really dirty and need periodic maintenance. If you have replaced the belt, then you have the skill to do the rest. Note that after re-assembly don't try to lubricate the bearings. They will only collect dirt faster.

Dirt Devil M084600 Dynamite

Your roller won't turn. The belt is designed to break if anything threatens to keep the motor from turning. When you have the roller out, check the end caps to see if they rotate easily. If they do, then install a new belt being very careful that the belt is not pinched on the channel that it sits in. Once you have the belt installed, turn the roller by hand to make sure that there is no jamming or catching of anything. Install the plate and check the rotation again. Once you are satisfied that the roller turns easily, try the machine.
If the caps on the roller are jammed, as they will get from debris, hair and thread, etc., then you may have to replace the roller. The end caps on most of the Dirt Devils are carbon fibre and will break when you try to remove them.

Belts breaking/melting

The shaft turning bluer tells me the belt has been slipping a lot. You may have ruined it the first belt working too hard.
