Try Another Monitor---If OK--Problem Is With Your Monitor---If Does The Same Thing--Problem With Computer Video.

The Planar PX2210MW is notorious for bad electrolytic capacitors. Specifically capacitor C804 on the power supply board. . This is a 1000uF 25volt capacitor. That capacitor was usually made by Hermei and it was purple. Normally, the top of a capacitor will be flat. When it fails, it will be curved upward and there may be some brown material leaking out.
If the monitor still will not work after replacing C804, the problem could be Q805 or Q806. These are located on the under side of the board. They are small black surface mounted chips. There are 8 pins on these chips. I have seen both AO4620 and APM4548A part numbers used. These chips contain a pair of MOSFET transistors. One transistor is n-channel and the other is p-channel. Look for a short in one of the transistors. I have repaired several of these monitors. C804 is always bad. How ever, in three cases, Q805 or Q806 was also bad

this is a common problem with the capacitor, try opening your monitor and see if there is a capacitor swalow like gonna blow... the capacitor has a form like a AA battery... if changing the capacitor the problem persist maybe is a problem with the board and you need to search if the board have continous power....

Okay.... If you can. install your drive. It may work. If not then your Hardware in your monitor is screwed. Or maybe something else but not to my knowledge.

iv come across this before sometimes people can see that the monitor is actually working but the light has gone out id say bad capacitors that are breaking down. if you want to DIY it take it apart and find the light pcb usually built on the power supply pcb and look for bulging or swolen capacitors this happens alot in my opinion. if you can DIY it get the same caps or same value but better ones. I might be wrong but worth a look

Sure, you can fixed by replaced the backlight inverter or repaired it.

It may be the back plane lamps, and or the back plane power supply that is in a failing condition. If in your model they are changeable, they should be changed together.

You can verify this by turning on the monitor, feeding it with a known working source, and shine a flashlight in to the screen at an offset angle to your view. If you can see some image in the screen, then you know that the monitor itself is functioning, and the problem is back plane lumination.
