TIVO DVR : Won't Change Channels

The TIVO is connected to the Cable Box using a Serial Connection. The tivo can no longer communicate with the Cable Box. The Cable box works fine and can change channels. I bought a new Serial cable, but still I can't get the Tivo to change channels when I use the Tivo remote or when I have programmed a program to be recorded.

i can change channels on the cable box with tivo remote but tivo is stuck on one channel.

My Tivo only changes channels, correctly, about 1/2 of the time. For example, sometimes it is programmed to change to channel 351 but it may turn to 51 or 35 or, not at all. There is nothing on the Tivo website in support of this. Everything else works fine, Ie: cable box, serial connection, etc.

My tivo has this problem also. Try not to use another remote such as a dvd around your tivo, also try restarting your tivo when it is missing channels.

My Tivo has become stuck on channel 43. If I change the channel with the remote the channel number changes and displays the current infomration, but the channel will not leave channel 43. I unplugged it, checked the IR cable, unplugged the DSL line and nothing. Any other ideas?

I have the same problem. Tivo thinks it's changing the channel - the Tivo on screen display says it's on the desired channel, but the cable box (and consequently the TV) never leaves changes channel unless I use the Cable remote.

When trying to change channel with the tivo remote the cable box displays the new channel info on screen as if it is going to change to that channel but it doesn't the cable box stays on the channel it is on.
I've tried all the IR codes and none seem to work. I have a PACE 2000.

I am having the same problem. Over the last few days the channels will change. I have to go into the channel setting and run the test and then it seems to work for a while then I get stuck again and have to start the same process. Is it a bad remote possibly?

Set up your infrared blasters connected from your IR port on the Tivo and by placing the two lead lights in front of your cable box so it (the cable box) can read the signal.  Then go to Channel settings accessed through Tivo Central and follow the questions. It will ask you to change channels until the remote is working correctly.  This all worked on a different "input" on my Mitsubishi TV (it has multiple inputs.  I have the cable input on a different "input" to make it work.  Hope this helps.  Call TIVO tech assistance because they are the ones who talked me through this.

Do not use another remote around your tivo, also when it misses channels alot, try restarting the system.

How do I hook up tivo,Vizio,Xfinity together?

You need a cable box from xfinity that does not have a DVR built in and then you need to see whether the Tivo can control it. You will need an ir blaster cable from here:

www.weaknees.com/tivo-cables.php

Then connect the Tivo to the cable box and the TiVo to the TV.

I have 2 Tivo HD XL boxes with CableCards and I receive all channels one one box but am missing channels on the other box.

Missing channels are a sure sign that your CableCard is not paired correctly or is defective. Sometimes, the issue can be as simple as a clerical error, where the serial number of the CableCard was not entered correctly into your cable provider's system. Call your cable company and have a tech come out to take a look at your CableCard configuration.

Tivo won't change my TV Channels anymore with direct cable

I re-did the guided setup in the Tivo under Messages & Settings/Restart-Reset System/Restart menu section in Tivo. Once I did that, it cleared this issue, even though I didn't have to change any of my settings thru this guided setup. I tried a reset alone first, but that did not fix it. Only this fixed it. We had lost both power and cable during a recent tree fall in a storm, and when both were restored, this problem started. I have a cable coax directly in the back of the TV (no cable box/IR etc) and the system is on a home wireless network. I actually have 2 identical Tivo's in the house set up the same way but only one had this problem. The other worked no different after the outage.

I can't get my tivo to change channels. It stays on the same channel

I believe that you are already on the right path, your tivo will still be assuming that you are running off the cable box plus you watch dancing with the stars for five minutes one time just to see Warren Sapp attempt to dance and now all of a sudden it wants to record every single piece of televison with dance in the title or discription, but I'm not bitter.

Just re-accomplish the set up and let it know that you are no longer running a cable box. Also tell it that ditching you friday night to hang with it's old high school buddies was so not cool.

Tivo & cable

Have you gone through the automated set-up again, to let the Tivo detect what channels you have and don't have?

I had a similar issue a few years back when Comcast changed our line up, and that solved it for me.
