I have a Philips 42" LCD TV 42PFL7662D that has a shadow like a large thumb print down the left hand side. Is there anything that can be done to fix this?

I come across this every day with LCD Tvs.What it is, is dust between the layers of the LCD. When dust particles settle behind the front layer of the LCD, and the LCD is pressed i.e when cleaned, the layers can be pushed together, resulting in a shadowy streak. If the LCD is stripped and cleaned it will be ok.

You have to enter its service menu option to unlock the Hotel mode. Visit the site named 'Electro-help' for more details. Check this LINK and select the site named above. View it in 'Flip card' option, which can be selected from the drop down box menu at the left top corner or the display window. It will make search easy. Some times, the ads attached with each posts might help you to find the availability of spare parts. There are more than 550 posts to different brand TVs.

4 year old vizio 42 inch tv lcd. While watching tv, the screen started dimming. There is a 4 inch shadow all along left side of the screen and the 1 inch line shadow going down the middle of the screen.

Maybe a power supply or related issue but at 4 years of age the set has reached its life span----parts will be hard or impossible to find.

If you got four years I would retire it and recycle it and then replace it.

My TV has sound and all the channels work but no picture is displayed on the screen. I have a 42" PHILIPS LCD TV. What is the normal life span of this TV and is it still under warnnty after two years.

The Master and slave inverter panels are faulty and yes this may still be under warranty. If the inverter panels (placed at both sides of the LCD panel) have "Rev 1.2" printed down one end, then they need to be replaced with Rev 1.3 panels. This is a common fault and worth contacting the manufacturer about.

I have a 42 inch phillips model 42pfl7662d 1080dp lcd tv. today it started making crackling noises at the rear right hand side, then it automatically switches itself off, and then on again after a minute...

sound s like the HV generator (flyback) This is repairable with a new flyback if that is indeed whats happening. Take the back off and dont touch anything but try powering up the set and see if the noise is coming from a part that looks like this with 4533b6a8.jpg big red wire coming from
