Hi i have a samsung NP-Q1 tablet pc. I have forgotten the windows password and cannot get in. I do not have a external Dvd drive and cannot use any cd's. Is there a way i can use a standard usb stick and copy the recovery cd to the usb stick and make the tablet pc automatically start the recovery procedure. I will have to restore it to its original factory condition. If there is any other way please help.
Re: Hi i have a samsung NP-Q1 tablet pc. I have forgotten...
Yeah! You can. As far as I know, third party software Windows Login Recovery is used to reset forgotten windows password and the windows password reset file can be stored in a USB flash drive.

Suggest you use an external DVD drive, and put your installation disk in it. Then access the BIOS Setup utility.
In BIOS Setup, find the Boot Order menu. (Generally, along the top headings of the main menu, in BIOS Setup, or located in Advanced BIOS Settings) Set the first boot device to be CDROM. Be sure to Save your change. This way the handheld, will boot from the installation disk, in your external DVD drive.
Should you be trying to downgrade from Vista to XP, you have to change the first boot device, in Boot Order to CDROM. If not, Vista won't let you overwrite it. Vista is an upgrade over XP.
I use a panasonic UJ-870 DVD drive and it works. You don't necessarily need a proprietary drive. Otherwise try (if you can) switching the drive off then quickly on just before the Q1 restarts at reboot.
