This can have to do with several things. You might have a lot of sounds installed and have a lot of projects that you are working on. You can also have a small memory that is not improving the boot. You can expand your mpc memory, take a look at the link for an example:

I am having my akai mpc2500 fixed and fully upgraded, the engineer has found a problem with the IDE line, apparently the hard drive and cd drive will not work with the machine he has tried a couple of

Hello there,
You dont say what was wrong when you said it was being 'fixed' and a Hard Drive and/ or CD added.
Has it been updated to V1.24 software which fixes a bug in hard drives formatting ? As per the release notes. http://www.akaipro.com/product/mpc2500#downloads

I would very much doubt there is problem with the IDE interface UNLESS this was the original reason you were having it fixed.

I would take it to the AUTHORISED AKAI PRO Dealer to have it inspected.and a PROPER understandable report given to you if the Machine still won't accept a Hard Drive or a CD mechanism.
Go to bottom of page here For AKAI PRO dealer near you. It cannot hurt to get a second opinion.

Usb cable broken

Yes, you need to have midi in/out on your computer. Also you would need the optional AC adapter, which can be purchased separately from akai, in order to power your controller

Factory reset mpc2000xl

Hi,

The procedure is as follows: go to the INIT Screen. Hold down SHIFT and press OTHER (8 on the numeric pad) to display the OTHER mode screen and press INIT [F2] to display the INIT screen. This will initialize ALL PARAMETERS.

Pressing DO IT will initialize. Pressing DO IT [F6] erases the parameter data from the MPC2000XL memory and initializes them to their default parameters.

If you need a manual for your unit, you may find it here:
http://www.audiorents.com/library/userManuals/mpc2000x.pdf

Hope this helps. Take care, and thanks for using FixYa!
