Gets to the screen "please wait, building database. this may take a few minutes" then turns off

You need to make sure that you have at least 50MB of free space for the player to load the database. If you have at least that much space then it is likely that the firmware has gotten corruped and you just need to reflash the firmware.

First, connect your player and back up any important media items that are on it.
Next, download and run the firmware installer from the RCA website:
http://voxrightnow.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5635
NOTE: Reinstalling the firmware could erase all of your media on the device, so it is always good practice to back up your media first.

When i turn on the mp3 it gets to the building database screen and gets stuck. it wont go any farther than this. what cam i do?

OK, first thing, you can stop it by powering it off. The try turning it back on. It's gonna say it again, but just wait a few minutes and it should be on a black screen with the menus like Music, and enjoy!

When i power on my rca opal it says it is building database

The device requires 50MB of free space to build the internal database. Make sure you have at least that much space before trying to power on again. If you do have that much space, there is likely an issue with the firmware and will require a firmware reload.

You can download the update from here:
http://voxrightnow.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2558

Follow the installation instructions provided. (You may need to backup the media on your device if you don't have it already on your computer)

Can't add songs to the mp3 player

First, go to my computer and scroll down to devices with removable storage, then look for you mp3 player, click on it, enter it's file system, and find where it keeps mp3's, then just copy and paste, it bypasses the software. If that does not work, try uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers and program, then try it again. That is a model number
