My Mr. Coffee FT series will not brew. I got it 1

My Mr. Coffee FT series will not brew. I got it 1 yr ago, used it 2-3 times and then put it away on a shelf bc I was using a different coffee maker. Now I have tried to brew coffee and I've tried the self cleaning feature - it makes noise, but no water comes through. Any advice?

Hi Guest,
Thanks for the solution, I already threw it out and bought a cheap coffee maker. Mine was over a year old-no warranty. :(

SOURCE: Coffee won't brew

It is probily the thermal switch between hot wire and element. Check to see if you are getting power through this switch.

SOURCE: My brand new Mr. Coffee

I am not an electronics expert, but mine stopped and it was out of warranty by about 3 months so I decided to take it apart....I am usually pretty good at fixing things. I found the problem. One of the small capacitors on the power cicuit board had went out and leaked across the circuit.
I called to see if I could get a new board and was told no. My choice was to exchange it for a new one if it was still under warranty or throw it away if it wasn't!!!!

SOURCE: I have a FT series Mr Coffee (Black and Silver)

Could be as simple as a hose that popped loose, or as serious as a cracked tank...the only way to know for sure is to pull the bottom plate and have a look.

Most retailers have a generous return policy, and you never really know what you can't have until you ask...but if this is not an option, a 30 minute project could save you the replacement cost.

Remove the base plate screws* and lift easy to reveal the heater element and hoses to the water tank.

*Torx screws (a star pattern) require a special driver that can be found cheap at any auto parts store.

Check the hoses one at a time for leaks (cracks, dry spots, tight fit, etc) and look at the bottom of the tank for a split or crack.

Place the bottom back on (no screws yet) and add a little water...If it stays, then you got it.
If it leaks, lift the machine to eye level, drop the bottom out of the way, and add a little more water so you can watch for the source of the leak.

A broken tank means a new machine...but a bad hose can be replaced.

This morning when my wife went to make coffee. The clean light came on. we couldn't get it to shut off. She went through the clean cycle. The light came back on again. What should we do ?? Mr. Coffee...

I know this sounds like a pain but it takes a while to get that silly light to stop.
If you have problems call the 1-800 number below.
Decalcifying your MR. COFFEE® Coffeemaker Minerals (calcium/limestone) found
in water will leave deposits in your coffeemaker and affect its performance. It's
recommended that you regularly remove these deposits using MR. COFFEE® Cleaner
or vinegar. MR. COFFEE® Cleaner is available at many retail stores or by calling the MR.
COFFEE® Consumer Service Department at 1-800-MR COFFEE (1-800-672-6333).
1. Follow package instructions to prepare one batch of MR. COFFEE® Cleaner. Pour the
mixture into the water reservoir. Before decalcifying, remove the water filtration disk
from the machine.
NOTE: 4 cups or 20 fl. oz. of undiluted, white household vinegar may be used as a
substitute for the cleaner.
2. Place an empty MR. COFFEE® 10-12 cup basket-style paper filter
or MR. COFFEE® permanent filter into the filter basket and slide
the brew basket in place.
3. Place the empty decanter back in the unit.
4. Press the CLEAN button until the CLEAN indicator light turns on
(Figure 9). For your convenience the cleaning cycle is automatic.
The entire cycle will take 45-60 minutes to complete.
During the cleaning your coffeemaker will:
a. Slow brew approx. 3 cups of cleaning solution.
b. Pause for 30 minutes (the CLEAN light will remain on to alert
you that the process is active).
c. After 30 minutes, your coffeemaker will brew the remainder of the cleaning
solution.
d. When complete, the CLEAN light will turn off and your coffeemaker will turn off.
5. Discard the cleaning solution and rinse the decanter thoroughly with clean water.
6. Fill the water reservoir with clean, fresh water.
7. Place the empty decanter back on the coffeemaker.
8. Remove and discard the paper filter used during the cleaning cycle. If a Mr. Coffee®
permanent filter was used during cleaning, remove it and rinse it thoroughly before
replacing it in the filter basket.
9. Begin brewing and allow the full brew cycle to complete.
10. Repeat steps 5 through 9 one more time.

mcdevito75 here, Your Mr. Coffee may need cleaning, here"s how, Fill the resovoir with white vinegar, cycle thru the machine 3 times, half way thru the 3rd time stop 1/2 way thru and turn off machine for 30 minutes, then recycle. After that rinse your Mr, Coffeee by cycleing thru fresh water each cycle takes another resovoir of fresh water to get rid of the vinegar. If this is not the problem, maybe the pump is shot. Contact Mr. Coffee by phone or online at Mr. Coffee.com or replace the machine.

Mr coffee beeps 3 times and thats all, no brew

3 beeps means plugged water line. Take off the bottom of the coffee maker with a small phillips head screwdriver. Use pliers (I used needle nose type) to remove the wire clamps holding on the silicone water tubes to the hot plate. In my case, the water line from the reservoir to the plate was clogged with something I couldn't see until I blew on the hose and it popped out, could have been scale, grounds etc Clean with vinegar. Back in service!

Coffee spilling out the sides of the carafe

I had a Mr Coffee that did that. It was running across the brew pause arm and making a mess. I discovered that the position of the carafe had a lot to do with it. If I brewed with the handle pointing out towards me, very little leaked out. I finally tore the brew pause arm off of the bottom of the brew basket. I works great and hey, I can wait ten minutes for a cup of coffee! However, if yours is new and doing this, I would contact the company and see if they'll make it good.

MR COFFEE FTX49. Brewing starts, then stops

Mine just started to do the exact same thing. So I decided to clean it using the "Clean" program and just water. I put the brewer through the cleaning program 3 times - each time it would brew water from 12 cups to 8 cups, I'd tap the brewer on the countertop, it would brew from 8 cups to 4 cups, tap it again, and it would brew the remaining cups. So, I called the Mr. Coffee help line (800-672-6333). The most-likely problem is that the hose is no longer attached in the water reservoir. The help line suggested that I take it in to a service center. I live in Urbana, IL and the closest service center is in Oak Lawn, IL - 2 hours away from me!!
Here is my solution:
1) Buy another coffee brewer.
or
2) Smash your current Mr. Coffee brewer into a million pieces (this relieves stress) and go buy another coffee brewer (probably stay away from Mr. Coffee products).
Hope this helps.

Set brew delay

Assuming you're talking about the FT series with the "delay brew" button and the 24 hour analog as opposed to digital clock, it's simple.

First, you have to have your correct time set. This is simple just press the hour button and then the minute button until the correct time is showing. Be sure to look for the AM PM indicator to make sure you're getting the desired time set.

Then press the delay brew button and use the same hour and minute buttons until you get the desired time (again watch for am/pm)

That's it.

Fill er' up, get 2 cups and then stops brewing and just steams like crazy

Sorry to say, this has been a common problem with the FT and IS series coffee makers from Mr. Coffee. Seemingly, no amount of cleaning will correct the problem. If the unit is less than one year old, Sunbeam will replace it free of charge. You will need to contact Mr. Coffee to find the nearest service center. You send or take them the unit, they send it back to Sunbeam, and Mr. Coffee drop-ships a new unit directly to you.
Out of warranty repairs on these units are few. Replacing the element, thermostat, etc.. can correct the problem, but sometimes the problem lies with the control module/ clock assy. Again, neither of these parts are available from Mr. coffee anymore. If your local service center has any new-old-stock of these parts, or any scrap units, they might be able to help you.
