Sony BM-850 microcasette dictator/transcriber.. Using a new tape or an erased tape the pedal and the buttons work correctly. It will stop and start or rewind without delay or overrun. But when I play a recorded tape it delays on stop and rewinds way too far. I can use the same tape... erased it works great but recorded it delays and runs over fron .5 to 2.0 seconds. The rewind will runover about the same. Then I erase the same tape and it operates like it is supposed to. I have adjusted the speed and reverse with no effect. The console buttons do the same thing. Any ideas?

SOURCE: rewinding to listen to recording

You should use the computer with Digital Voice Editor software to have more options when trabscribing. You could then use the transcribing keys to playback your recordings and regulate the velocity of the playback.
Download Digital Voice Editor Version 3.1.03 for Windows Vista/XP/2000.
64 bit version operating systems are not supported, though

SOURCE: We have 2 Sanyo Memo

try the local electronic device repair shop ..cause this is not a complicated intervention ..it is either the motor belt that snapped out or broke ..(in this case will not play either ..) or it is just the button or the contact to it ..and it is resolved in a few minutes....

SOURCE: We have a Sony BM-575

Hi,most times, when a Sony BM-575 recorder/dictator malfunctions, what i will advice you to do,is if the Sony BM-575 recorder/dictator is still under warranty, you could simply take it back tothe store for replacement..They are very delicate to handle by any other person.
Or you could simply contact sony tech support..

Also if you can get an expert that can fix it properly ok with that.....
You can check the manual and see if it has a reset button to reset...
That will do...

SOURCE: need a replacement drive belt

Sounds like you're a very handy type of person with enough courage to disembowel such delicate piece of equipment.

This may be a good place to start looking for that drive belt.

Hello,

No, this unit does not have an erase feature. You would need a magnetict tape eraser such as a BE10.

When i put a tape in to transcribe it sounds garbled. Do you think it could use a cleaning?

1. Try to change the tape speed on your machine. Sometimes that will fix it.

2. Maybe the tape is just old (has been dictated on too many times) and in that case, have the person dictate on new tapes and discard the old ones. They dont last forever.

Hope I could help!
