Linspire My First LeapPad Pen: LeapFrog Logo
Posted on Feb 23, 2010

My First Leap Pad does not recognize the cartriges. The error when the game is turned on says "Oops, that's not a My First Leap Pad cartridge". The cartriges are correct and plugged in firmly. The batteries are also new. Is there a way to fix it?

Try cleaning the stylus with rubbing alcohol.

Believe it or not, just blowing on the cartridge and inserting it again seems to do the trick with our Leappad.

Take a Q-tip, wet it with rubbing alcohol and gently rub around and across the metal "prongs" of the cartridge. Let it dry thoroughly before inserting back into the LeapPad. Also clean the outside of the cartridge port with alcohol.

Black Cartrige Missing

Did you use a brandname ink cartridge - or is it a knock-off brand? If it is a brand name - then the cartridge is most likely defective. If it is a knock-off brand - some printers do not recognize the electronic in the cartridge and therefore don't see it as one being installed.

I used the pencil eraser first on each of my daughter's cartridges. Then I used a qtip to rub them with rubbing alcohol. Finally I used a blow dryer to blow out where the cartridges are installed and now her games are working just fine.

I just had the same exact problem. We followed the leap pad recommendations for cleaning the stylus connection. Then we used a q-tip to clean the cartridge port and blew into it. Now it works.

MP140 do not recognize cartrige

Ensure that you are using original cartridges.

Clean the cartridge sensor inside the printer ink carriage with isopropyl alcohol and cotton. From description it looks like a faulty cartridge contact.

The cartridge sensor is the metal plaque that connects to the cartridge chip, is located inside the printer carriage.
