Depends on if it's a belt drive turntable or direct drive.
If a belt one, there will either be a speed adjuster on the top of the motor, or one on a PC Board. And yes apart from setting the speed, it as straightforward as taking the old one out and wiring the new one in.
The direct drive, will also have to be adjusted for speed too.

My 1210 turntable is slowing down/speeding up, so as the song sounds out of tune....what is the problem, and how do I fix it?

over time the motors go. you can replace it but its nearly impossible since they no longer make or manufacture technics due to controllers taking over the dj world.

Technics 1210 MK2 - unstable/uneven speed problem

Since this is a direct-drive turntable, it isn't a slipping or stretched belt. You will need a technician with a couple pieces of equipment and some experience/training to find the source of the problem. I suspect the part(s) will be the minor cost of the repair.

How do i change the speed of technics 1210 mk2 back to the original speed?

if you take off the platter, then undo the plastic board covering and protecting the circuit board...then once you have access to the circuit board...there should be a little blue knob, usually located top right...its basically a matter of turning it untill you are happy with it, unless you have a little mark on the blue knob and the circuit board...if you or someone has done that, then that will be the master setting, of +8/-8 pitch

Help for technics 1200 MK2 and 1210 Speed is too fast

On the 1200MK2 the pitch control slider is for just that purpose. Disregard the 0 setting and use the illuminated strobe marks on the platter to adjust to nominal speed. When they appear to be motionless you are there. The control on the 1210 may be a knob but the same principles apply.

Turntables lags on pick up

I have the same exact problem with one of my 1210 MK2 turntables. It seems like the motor is too slow now. When I hit the start button or release the record, it takes much longer to speed up to the normal speed than my other same exact turntable. I don't think it has anything to do with the pitch slider. Please let me know if you find out what the problem is thanks!

Technics sl 1210 MK2 does not start

Your switch probably went bad. Does it not respond at all? Does the button at least 'bounce' back when you press it? If not, then you might have messed something up when putting it back together.

Technics 1210 mk2 problem with pitch and lights

Check that your voltage settings are set correctly. This is located underneath your turntable platter. If you remove the slipmat, you will see 2 holes on the metal platter. Rotate the platter till you see the voltage switch, located @ the 9'o'clock position. Make sure it's set to your correct settings (N.America = 115V / Euro = 220V). If not, you will need a flat head screw driver to switch it. Before you switch it, make sure your unit is off and unplugged. After you swich it, it should be ok.

If your still having issues with the speed and the pop-up light, then there is something seriously wrong, and will need to be checked by a technician. Sometimes a resistor or IC will go bad, causing the speed issue, but for the pop-up light - that's usually faulty wiring generally caused by an incorrect replacement.

Did you buy this new or used? Have you had this serviced recently?
