My sony DSC-W290, shots poor quality photos, some blurry and parts of the picture out of focus with grain in distances from 1 mt to infinite.
But at close distances the photos seems to be very good, and detailed. What's the problem? Have tried every configurations and the problem remains.
Thanks

try cleaning the lens first.
when taking the picture press down lightly so it will focus. Then press harder for the picture.

I have the same problem as you..
I don't know what is wrong with my camera and Ic ant seem to find the restore button to factory settings. There is nothing in the menu that states this.
For some reason my photos are in really poor pixelated quality even if it is set to the maximum of 8MP. When i take a photo with the flash, the photos return pixelated as though its been taken from a poor 'cell phone camera'
grrr its a really crappy camera.. >_<
It used to be good until this started happening out of no where.

SORRY TO SAY, YOU PROBABLY AREN'T DOING ANYTHING WRONG. AFTER MUCH READING ON THIS CAMERA I HAVE FOUND THAT THIS IS ONE OF THE WEAK POINTS, POOR PICTURE QUALITY AND NOISE ON PHOTO'S PLUS LACK OF DETAIL. SEEMS THIS CAMERA IS BEST SUITED FOR " FUN " SHOTS, BUT REALLY NOT AT ALL QUALIFIED FOR ANYTHING BETTER THAN THAT. I HAVE INCLUDED A HOTLINK TO A REVIEW ON THE CAMERA THAT I THINK WILL EXPLAIN MOST EVERYTHING TO YOU. IF IT HAPPENS TO BE FAIRLY NEW, I WOULD RECOMMEND RETURNING IT AND INVESTING IN A BETTER CAMERA. HOPE THIS ANSWERS YOUR QUESTION. IF YOU NEED MORE HELP,REPLY TO ARCLIGHT1217.

Its due to slow shutter speed setting.
If you want to take moving object picture, set high speed shutter, there would an icon of golf stick that is for moving object pictures.
