Reset Canon MX310

I followed the procedure to reset the cartridges of the Canon MX310, but without success. The light with the symbol of lightning continues to flash and remains the U051 code in the display. After following the procedure, the light stays green and does not change to yellow. Thanks in advance. Alessandro.

SOURCE: reset Ink levels for canon mx310

You could just turn the ink refill monitor off.

Open the Windows Start menu, open the "Canon Utilities" folder, open the "My Printer" folder, open "My Printer", click on "Printer Status", go to the "Options" menu, unselect "Enable Status Monitor".

You should be able to tell when your ink is low, because the color will fade.

SOURCE: my canon mx310 alarm light will not go off after i

Hi

You’ll need to reset your printer to clear the ink counters, after resetting it’ll not display the error code again. Follow this procedure to reset the printer--

1. Power off the printer.
2. Holding the stop/reset button, press and hold power button also. Hold both buttons together for 5 secs.
3. Still holding the power button, release the stop/reset buton, then press the stop/reset button twice.
4. Release power button (the screen should now say 'Service Mode').
5. Wait until the power button lights steady green, then press the stop/reset button three times with a 3 sec space between each press. On the 3rd press the indicator should turn steady orange.
6. Press the power button once, (the orange light should go off).
7. Open the printer and remove both cartridges. Wait for 10 seconds. Replace the cartridges and close printer. Wait for 30 seconds.
8. Press the power button, and wait until printer has shut down.
9. Press power button to power up. The printer will feed one piece of paper, then ask you to set the language.
10. The page counter is now reset.

First thing i would look at is the film that runs directly behind the print head i would think it is dirty. just turn on printer and get print head to the middle and turn off machine, gentle move print head to one side and gentle clean the film strip with a cloth with a little metho on it, move print head to other side and clean other part of ****.
i reckon that will fix your problem its a common problem they tend to get a bit of grease on the timming ****. Thank you Sir, Have a nice day.

SOURCE: alarm light on and u051 error mx310

I get to the Service Mode but then the orange light just keeps blinking 5 times in a row and never goes solid. I've tried pressing the Stop/Reset 3 times with 3 sec intervals, holding down for 5 secs, for 10 sec, and 20 sec, holding down for 3sec and then releasing for 3 sec (3 times....) and the orange light never changes from it's 5 blink cycle. Any ideas?

I have a separate fax line for my Canon MX310. It goes into fax mode but noting happens. I also cannot receive faxes.

The only reason to call the phone company is if you're not getting a dial tone on that line. Otherwise, have you shut down the printer and tried to reset it to factory defaults. To do that, follow the instructions below:
  • 1 Switch the Canon MX310 off using the "Power" button, then push the "Stop/Reset" button on the control panel. Hold the button down for about five seconds.
  • 2 Push the "Power" button while holding "Stop/Reset." Hold down both buttons for five seconds.
  • 3 Release "Stop/Reset" while holding down the "Power" button.
  • 4 Push "Stop/Reset" twice while continuing to hold the "Power" button. Release the "Power" button. The power light will turn green.
  • 5 Once the light is steady green, push "Stop/Reset." Wait about three seconds and push it again. Wait three more seconds and push it one final time, for a total of three times. The power light will turn orange.
  • 6 Push the "Power" button, then lift the MX310 cover open.
  • 7 Remove both ink cartridges and wait 10 seconds. Replace the cartridges and close the MX310 cover. Wait 30 seconds.
  • 8 Push the "Power" button. Wait a few seconds to allow the printer to fully power down, then switch the Canon MX310 back on using the "Power" button.

How to correct the 5100 warning on the canon MX 310 printer.

You need to reset your printer to remove this error. But first, may I suggest that you remove first your ink cartridge. Clean the contact surface using a cotton bud moistened with alcohol. After cleaning return back the cartridge.

Follow these steps:
1. Turn off the printer
2. Press and hold down the Stop/Reset button and Power button for 5 seconds.
3. While holding the Power button, release the Stop/Reset button.
4. While still holding the Power button, press the Stop/Reset button twice
5. Release Power button (wait till you get the lights)
6. Press the Stop/Reset button 3 times each having a 3 seconds gap. (check whether you are getting the orange light or not)
7. Press the Power button and enter data.
8. Remove the cartridge. Leave it for 20 seconds
9. Press the Power button and shutdown printer.
10. Return cartridge and start the printer.
11. Set the language and country.

After the first reset procedure and there is still an error, do this 2nd reset.
When the error is displayed on the display panel of the printer, 1. Press and Hold the STOP/RESET button and wait until it self restart.
2. Release the STOP/RESET button so printer will completely restart. After this, your printer will print again.

Please give this solution a 4 thumbs up rating.

How do I reset the cartridges after refilling?

There are two ways to reset the detection of the cartridges.

1. to reset it after refilling the ink cartridges. This is use to avoid the printer from detecting the cartridge as reused one.

2. to reset it after the ink from a refilled cartridge ran out and the printer successfully detected it and disable your printing function.

Follow the complete steps on the reset procedure in My Helpful Tip I Posted Here In Fixya.Com. just click the link below.

Check ink U051 code for a Canon printer

For starters, make sure the cartridge you have put in is the right cartridge for the machine. If it is, try pressing the STOP/REST button to cancel tthe message. Also try powering the machine down and re-seating the cartridge. The cartridge may have dirty contact, try cleaning them gently with a tissue and methylated spirits.

If the cartridge is brand new, you may have to either send it away to Canon for a replacement, or take it to where you bought it from for an exchange.

If the cartridge has been refilled, you may have to follow the reset procedure for refilled cartridges. On most Canon printers, simply holding the STOP/RESET button down for about 7 secs will turn off the ink monitoring level for the cartridge that the message is for.

Hope this helps.
