When juicing apples, does the skin need to be taken off first?

I am trying to juice apples with the skin on and it is coming out like puree and very little juice. Is this normal?

I prefer to clean skin from apples and oranges as well, because of my own preferences and my family's favors. We use cold press juicer, model Omega NC800HDS ( got it at this website ), cause it's pretty reliable juicer, it's solidly built, and works way more quiet than any other model I've been testing.

It depends on you whether you want to have your juice with the skin or without the skin. But I like apple juice without its skin.

Hi - I'm not familar with the brand of juicer - but normally you do not have to take the skins off- are the apples fresh?- if the apples are old and flowery you will not get much in the way of juice

Omega VSJ843QS Vertical Slow Masticating Juicer. Why is the juice coming out thick with my Omega VSJ843Q?

Question edited for clarity, full 'make model (what it is)'.
Question moved from Motorcycles!

Juice content of the fruit you are using. Try with Granny Smith apples and make sure they are this season and not last years. Also try the juicer with oranges to prove it is the apples and not the juicer. Also try peeling the apples as a test. The skin can block the strainer. Another trick, run the discarded pulp again.

How to make orange juice from fresh oranges

Peel 4 medium size oranges and place in the juicer.

Juicing Tip: When juicing oranges (or any kind of citrus fruit) it is a good idea to juice the white membranes at the center of the orange. The majority of the bio-flavonoids in citrus fruits are found in the white membranes. Scrape off some of the white membranes inside the peel and include them in the juice. We don't recommend juicing the whole peel, this will produce a very sour unpleasant juice.

When i juice greens i am no longer getting any juice from them. is my blade dull?

If you mean green leafy greens, the juicer is
not really designed for them. A sharp blade
will extract some juice from them, but I found
a new blade seems to increase the vibration
issue. Acme works best on carrots, apples,
celery, etc.

Too much pulp in juice

You need a new slicer with a finer mesh.

Juicer works fine until slight pulp build up in

Unfortunately, since these juicers do not eject the pulp, they will tend to go out
of balance. Juice nothing softer than apples and try to feed it as evenly and as
slowly as possible.

Shuts itself off when juicing

FIRST DUMP THE FILTERS, THEY DECREASE YIELD AND MAY CAUSE MORE VIBRATION.
IF JUICER SHUTS DOWN PUSH RESET BUTTON ON BOTTOM. THIS TYPE OF JUICER DOES
NOT EJECT PULP AND REQUIRES SOME TIME TO MASTER. FEED THE STUFF SLOW AND
STEADY. WANT A GOOD JUICE? TRY 1 APPLE, 2 CARROTS, 2 CELERY AND A HALF LEMON.
IF YOU ARE REALLY BRAVE YOU CAN FINISH OFF BY SLOWLY POURING 6 OR 8 OUNCERS
OF WATER RIGHT DOWN THE CHUTE. THIS NOT ONLY DILUTES BUT LEECHES MORE JUICE
OUT OF THE PULP. JUICE SHOULD BE DILUTED AND DRANK SLOWLY.

Pulp galore!

are you exceeding the capacity of the juicer? you will get about 2 and 1/2 large glasses of juice before the pulp fills the spinning basket. Apple peels are very tough, apples and tomatoes need to be peeled before juicing. Use the filters, the juice comes out much clearer and the juicer is easier to clean up. I so a lot of carrots, carrots are super food.

Pomegranate

Well ya can juice 'em but it's a bit labour intensive .. lol 'cause ya gotta skin 'em, and get ALL the "Seeds" out, they taste bad... then put the pulp in.. and juice away... yield is low also .. but tastes real nice in the end.. I usually do it in a plastic bag,and tip the pulp into the juicer. Ya can make great "leathers" too..
