Audio problems - great picture -fuzzy sound

Digital Sony tv 46in. Sometimes sound is good sometimes fuzzy or not a sharp sound. Plugged into an amp and than to speakers--makes no
difference. One dish two sets--Sony is hi def set. Cable runs from dish about 30 feet to tv set--cable outside for about 10 years. Sound better during the day than at night usually and better in warm weather than cold I think. Any ideas would be appreciated--have been thinking about a signal
booster but for the fact the picture is so good. Thankyou John Evans

due to the line being up and running under a gutter I am not wild about replacing the line if the problem can be solved any other way.

Yes..that would make sense..the cable is getting dried out, and has less conductivity when it's hot or warm..that's not unusual

actually, the brittleness factor is worse when it's cold, the conductivity is higher when the conductors are warmed up..
I suggest you run a fresh cable in parallel to your dish, and see how that comes out.

  • Anonymous Feb 29, 2008

the primary component coming in from the dish through the cable is video, obviously, and audio runs under that signal, or along extra conductor.. in most cases, depending on your cable, the video runs on skin of conductor(called skin effect in fact) and the audio runs down the center. so impedance would hit the sound signal, more noticeably

i got that..but it's worth a test with a fresh cable...those are usually not that good that long, really?

what part of world are you in?

I have an optical cable plugged into the back of my amp in the TV Sat digital audio input. It's plugged into my tv, yet I'm not getting any audio out through the speakers.

Make sure you have optical audio out enabled in the menu of the TV. Also check your amp menu make sure it knows to use the optic audio input. Last make sure the fiber optic is plugged in good. Sometimes they are hard to fully seat.

No sound picture ok adio output ic good sharp tv model 21V-FW150M

If this is confirmed the fault seems to be in the preamp section or the SIF- sound intermediate frequency section. If you have confirmed that the output is workingg by conneccting an input to the audio input then it should be confirmed that there is no output from the audio line out.
If so you will need to trace using a AF- audio frequency- signal to confirm the area of loss of the AF.
Sometimes this can be some coupling stages or an OP-Amp.
Please trace using a signal and a voltage test. If not get help.

Dis you take the TV to a Sony Service Repair Center,Who does Sony Warranty Work?
Most Problems related to Audio is in the SSB Board,Sometimes caused by poor Solder Connections on the Board, you might just need to replace the ssb board and that should solve the problem you are having. What is the Model Number that is Printed on Back of TV?

My Sharp Flat Panel Television LC19SB25U has Picture but No Audio

Sharp has had a few problems with their audio boards, not finding any bulletins on this model, but a few complaining about low audio on amazon reviews section. If using an antenna you will experience some channels with low audio. If using cable you should get good sound on all channels..
the 9.1 and 9.2 are digital channels and sharp does display them for at least a few seconds when you switch to that channel. Check all your setting in the audio to Stereo never SAP. To options for you are get a cable box, first check in the back and see if there is another coax in, if there are two try both rescanning after connecting.

What is OPC flashers on screen sometimes

Same problem. TV worked night before and then would turn on but no picture or sound. Power and OPC lights blinking. I couldn't change the channel or get to the menu.
I disconnected the coaxial cable and the power for a few minutes and then plugged it back in (electric) but left the cable off. I got a message that it couldn;t get a signal. At that point I was able to change the channels. I plugged the cable line back in and everything worked fine... Good luck!!!
