Digital Sony tv 46in. Sometimes sound is good sometimes fuzzy or not a sharp sound. Plugged into an amp and than to speakers--makes no
difference. One dish two sets--Sony is hi def set. Cable runs from dish about 30 feet to tv set--cable outside for about 10 years. Sound better during the day than at night usually and better in warm weather than cold I think. Any ideas would be appreciated--have been thinking about a signal
booster but for the fact the picture is so good. Thankyou John Evans
Yes..that would make sense..the cable is getting dried out, and has less conductivity when it's hot or warm..that's not unusual
actually, the brittleness factor is worse when it's cold, the conductivity is higher when the conductors are warmed up..
I suggest you run a fresh cable in parallel to your dish, and see how that comes out.
the primary component coming in from the dish through the cable is video, obviously, and audio runs under that signal, or along extra conductor.. in most cases, depending on your cable, the video runs on skin of conductor(called skin effect in fact) and the audio runs down the center. so impedance would hit the sound signal, more noticeably
i got that..but it's worth a test with a fresh cable...those are usually not that good that long, really?
what part of world are you in?

due to the line being up and running under a gutter I am not wild about replacing the line if the problem can be solved any other way.
