ILO DVDR05 recorded DVD's freeze

Last year I backed up most of my old VHS tapes using ILO DVDR05. Once I got the procedure down pat, recording was no problem including finalization. Recently, I've tried to play the disc's on a different player and the movie freezes. Sometimes right away, sometimes toward the end of the movie. I then tried to play the movie on the Ilo unit and it still freezes. What's up? They played after being recorded but now they freeze? Is it the players or the recording? Help

I'll record a sports program that may last over 2hrs & it can just freeze @ any moment when I playback. Have not been able to figure out the problem, these dvds are rewritables & I should be able to record at least 1000x.

No I haven't solved the problem. I would be very happy to buy the "Premium" assistance plan if I knew I would get a decent answer. I fear I'll be told it's shot and to buy another one. If you are willing to give me a workable solution, I'd pay for the plan AFTER the fact.

Burn your DVDs at tow positions slower than what the system and discs say. It sounds as if there is a huge amount of error being introduced during the write process. Unfortunately, the old discs can only be recovered with an external program like Zero Assumption Recovery or the like....accordianman

ILO DVD Recorder/Player DVDR05

I'd take it back before you can't and get your money back. I bought two ILO's !one was a DVDR04 and the other was a DVDR05 and they didn't last even 6 mo. and all ILO has to say is pay us and it will work again but for how long, Until they want more money. Ithink they rig them to fail in the programing so they can charge for more programing.

http://www.retrevo.com/support/CyberHome-DVR-1600MU-DVD-Players-manual/id/534ci862/t/2/e Someone said these were similar. Try the red/yellow/white cables. select that SOURCE. first select your recording length. I usually put mine on 3-4 hours and try to keep it from running to the end or you have problems. I use Rewriteable dvds, if you use reg discs be sure to finalize the disc so it will work in other players. I read if you are copying macrovision vhs to use the antenna input and it will copy it with that input. Just tune it to channel 4 or whatever. Forget trying to set the timer to record from tv. I never have success with that.

I have the same problem when using the coax hookup. try using another input and see if that helps, I no longer use the tuner, just hook my tv up to the inputs and set the tv on what I want to record, same with vcr tapes etc.

DVDR05

I have the same problem with rentals. Even discs barely scratched or with fingerprints. The ilo recorder is great for recording but not really a good player. Try watching a disc you recently recorded. If it still messes up maybe it needs cleaning? May be getting too hot too, check your clearance around your unit.

Following the instructions on hooking up the cables gave me fits. I finally just put the instructions away and winged it. Got it that way. Bypass your Ilo tuner. Hook the Comcast Cable (outs) up to the A/V input 1 of your ILO. Hook your tv combo A/V outputs, to the ILO A/V inputs. Select the Source and choose the cable source for cable and the combo source to tape from your VHS/dvd combo. Its a pain but you have to select Source everytime you turn the Ilo back on. You could hook your Cable to the ILO but would have to turn on ILO everytime to watch tv. Two remotes is a chore but you have to use tv remote for the volume anyway so it doesn't matter. Hope this helps.
