If this is being used as a socket for a 120-volt lamp (such as a compact fluorescent with self-contained ballast or an incandescent lamp), you wire the black (hot) AC line conductor to the brass-colored screw and the white (neutral) conductor to the silver-colored screw. If the socket is equipped with pigtails instead of screws, use pressure connectors (wirenuts) to connect black to black, white to white.

If you are using HID lamps, you don't wire directly to the AC line. These lamps must be used in a fixture with the correct ballast transformer, capacitor and ignitor (for pulse-start lamps) for the lamp wattage. If you are replacing the socket in such a fixture, follow the wiring of the old one when installing the new socket.

Do not touch the glass of High Intensity Discharge (HID) or halogen bulbs with fingers or other possibly oily surface. Reduced lamp life will result.

HID install 1 step says
Place the igniter on the HID lamp. Do not at this time connect the igniter electrical connector. It will make it unable to twist the igniter to the closed position.

the igniter can be bad.

What is an HID lamp?

High Intensity Discharge is just like the big lamps you see on the streets and in industrial lighting. HID lamps require ballast which is an expensive material and can't be found in every local hardware store. Furthermore, the HID consume lots of electricity and can draw lot of power therefore their operation is also expensive.

How do I get the strobe light on the Mobilite 300 to stay on continuously?

You can't get the strobe light to stay on continuously, the strobe is a very high voltage discharge lamp which can only illuminate briefly.

But the unit does have a built in modelling lamp at far lower power and intensity, used only to set up the lighting rig and to check for shadows and highlights. As long as the unit is connected to mains voltage then you just use the power switch to turn the modelling lamp on.

hi, there is a relay for head lamps. if you check the revse side of the fuse cover. (looks like a basin on its side with straight lines forward or diped lines) if this not the problem the wire suppling the head lamps is broken or loose or very bad connection or dirty. also check the earths around the lamp. a volt meter or a lamp holder with lamp and lenght of wire one with a clip and the other with a probe can be used for general testing and checking electrical systems/ gerry

Where is bulb located

The lamp assembly is usually housed in a metal holder which can be located behind a removable cover at the rear of your set. The lamp assembly is a high intensity halide lamp with integral parabolic reflector unit. Some later models permit user access to lamp holder via an access cover, earlier units required access to the set's internals by qualified personel.
