I cannot scan to my computer in my photosmart b209a. I did get the error at the end of installation that said there was a problem with scan communication. I can scan using windows photo gallery, but not hp software. HP support was helpless to address. Anyone??? The error message states that the imaging device is in use. It is not. Thanks

    I just figured out that if I connect it with the usb cable, it works. I guess it is a network problem that I cannot seem to solve. I have created exceptions for all the hp devices. Perhaps it is a router problem???

    Have you tried unplugging the scanner (both USB & power) and reconnecting it?

You may need to change the com port that the printer is using, it may be in conflict with some other hardware. Go to device manager and click on printer and right click go to properties and see what com port it is on., check other hardware and make sure nothing else is running on the same com port.
You may also try re-installling the software.

I install the software for a hp Photosmart Plus B209 (a-m) all in one printer/scanner. It prints just fine. When I try to scan however I keep getting a file error where it's looking for the scan.msi file....
Try to reinstall the printer driver. If its still in error, check your OS if it is compatible with your printer driver.

Ok i bought an HP Photosmart B209 but how can i scan a picture into my computer?
You can use the program that comes with the printer. Its called HP Solution Center. There you can view your printers status, etc.. In addition you can choose to copy, scan or print files.

Cannot scan any documents to computer. Refer to
Kindly install the scanner software for printer the driver software cd just re install it will install the scanner software and make sure in device manger there is not other usb device listed if it is there just remove it. And refresh it in will automatically install the driver.
For normal scanning you can choose the option of Scanners and Cameras wizard in control panel. But it is better if you have software disk of printer because it contains more option.
