Your new ISP is DSL. the router was working before with the cable modem. The settings for the cable and DSL ISP are different. Now your computer is working when you connect it directly to the DSL modem. that means the modem is working.
The DSL modem works on 2 different modes.
You will need to check which mode is your modem working on and according to the settings of your modem you will need to set up the router.
To change the settings of the router, you will need to open the set up page of the router.
Click Here for more information about the router set up.

CNet wireless router Model CWR-854V. is causing my Ethernet lite on my DSL modem to blink causing me not to be able to get on internet. Changed all cables no help disconnected Router and modem works...

Use an Ethernet cable to connect your computer directly to the DSL modem, bypassing the router, turn the modem off, turn the modem on, wait 60 seconds, and restart your computer.

Does the Ethernet lamp still blink when Windows is booting, and when you are using the Internet?

Turn the DSL modem off.
Turn the router off.
Turn the computer off.
Disconnect the Ethernet cable from the modem, and connect it from the computer to the router.
Turn the router on, and wait 60 seconds, then turn your computer on.
After Windows is running, click Start.
Click Run
Type CMD
Press Enter
Type IPCONFIG
Press Enter
Look for output like: default gateway........ 192.168.123.456
If the string starts with '192.168', then your computer *IS* "talking" to the router.
Now, use an Ethernet cable to connect the WAN port on the router to the DSL modem.
Turn the modem on.
Turn the router off.
Turn the router on.
Wait 60 seconds.
Restart your computer, and you should be able to web-surf.

I can not connect to the Internet. I have WiFi connection but can't do anything else

Plug your computer/laptop directly into router. Can you get to the Internet then?
If you CANNOT get to the internet when your computer is plugged into the router, reboot your router. If it doesn't have a power switch, unplug it. Leave it unplugged. Next, you need to figure out if you have another modem for DSL or Cable. If you do have another DSL or Cable modem, unplug that device to. After 5 minutes has elapsed for both devices being unpowered, plug in the DSL or Cable modem to the power source. Keep the router unplugged from power. After your DSL or Cable modem has powered up for 5 minutes, plug your router into the power source. Wait a few minutes. Reboot your computer/laptop. Try the wireless connection again.
If you CAN get to the internet when your computer is plugged into the router. Reboot your computer. Try to connect again. If you cannot connect after rebooting, make sure you are connecting to YOUR OWN wireless access point and not someone else's.
Do you have other computers/laptops/wifi devices that CAN/CANNOT connect to your wireless / access the Internet?

Router will not pass the internet connection. I can direct-wire computers to my modem, but the minute I change the connection to the router, the "Internet" indicator only blinks on and off...

Please post more info. What is your Internet connection? Cable or DSL?
Most Cable providers you will need to set the connection on the Router to DHCP.
If DSL, you should have the DSL modem placed into bridge mode (contact your provider for assistance) and then set the Router to authenticate the DSL's PPPoE.

Also, if you've got a Cable modem, it might need to be rebooted to allow the Router to work. I know I have to do do this when I'm testing and switching out routers.

Turn the cable-modem (or DSL-modem) on, and wait for its lamps to settle-down to a "steady" pattern.

I can't get my wireless g broadband router to work with my dsl speedstream 5100 modem i can connect to internet when my ethernet cable goes from my xp pc or my mac osx desktop directly to the dsl...

make sure that there is no IP conflict with the two devices. speedstream and wireless G. if both of them have same IP gateway you have to change the IP either one of them for you to have a connection.

Computer wont connect to internet with router

Troubleshooting steps:
1) Make sure that you can get it to work if you go from the cable/DSL modem directly to your computer
2) Assuming that works, disconnect the cable from the back of the computer and plug it into the WAN/INTERNET connection on the router and take a different cable and go from one of the LAN ports (labelled 1-4, typically) to the computer
3) turn off the computer, unplug the router and unplug the cable/DSL modem. Plug in the cable/DSL modem and wait for the lights to stabilize. Plug in the router and wait for the lights to stabilize. Finally, turn on the computer and try it.

Linksys routetr problem

HI,
The problem can be caused, because of two reasons, one the router profile on the computer has got corrupted and second the router itself. Have you tried resetting the router to factory defaults.. Caution: all wireless security settings and user name and passwords would go back to factory defaults.

1.Disconnect all cable from the back of the router.
2. Shut down your computer and the DSL box
3.Press the reset button, using a paper clip at the back of the router.Keep it pressed for 5 seconds
4. Disconnect the power cord to the router
5. Switch on the Dsl box, wait for the lights to stablize
6. Reconnect the interenet cable and the power cable to the router and power it on.
7 Let the lights stabalise on the router and power on the computer.

Check if that resolves the problem, if not we might need to update the router.

Thanks
