How do I hook up a non powered sub woofer on my htr-5630?

I hooked up my 5 speakers properly. I also have a non powered sub woofer. There's no speaker terminals for a sub woofer. There's an rca jack for a powered sub woofer. How do I hook up my non powered sub woofer?

You will need an amplifier or 2 channel receiver. Hook the sub out rca jack to the rca inputs on this new amp or receiver and hook the speaker terminals on sub to speaker terminals on same amp or receiver. Your Yamaha receiver doesn't have any power for a passive sub.Just pick up any old fairly high powered receiver for fifty dollars and you're good to go.I use old dolby pro logic receivers as they are a dime a dozen today. Good luck.

How to hook up emerson subwoofer sw 03

For powered sub :If your receiver has a sub woofer output on female RCA plug, that is the way to go. If no output you will have to get a speaker line to line output converter to then connect to your subwoofer amp input.

Unpowered sub - just hook up across the speaker terminals for each channel making sure that you hook it up in phase.

Yamaha rx-v2500 receiver how to hook up speakers

HI,

Follow these steps to connect a powered sub woofer to your receiver: You typically have two options when connecting a powered sub woofer. Input (1) on the rear of the sub woofer would be used when connecting the sub woofer to the receiver using speaker wires. You would then connect the main speakers to the opposite end, or output or the sub woofer to the main speakers. Option (2) would be using RCA line level output jacks, input (2) on the rear panel of the sub woofer directly to the single sub woofer output on the back of an AV receiver. blank.gif

I want to install a self powered woofer and tap it to the rear speakers. Can you please tell me what are the colors and polarity of the rear speaker wires for 2006 Honda odyssey right hand drive

FIRST OF ALL --- THERE IS A FEW THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE HOOKING UP
A WOOFER LIKE THIS ---- IS THIS A STORE BOUGHT POWERED SUB WOOFER ? DOES IT HAVE IT'S OWN CROSSOVER BUILT INSIDE ?? I WOULD GUESS IT NEEDS TO BE HOOKED
UP TO A SUB WOOFER OUTPUT FOUND ON THE BACK OF THE IN DASH PLAYER ..
THE WOOFER NEEDS TO RECEIVE ONLY LOW FREQUENCY AUDIO WHICH MOST OF THE NEWER CAR STEREOS PROVIDE BY AN RCA JACK ON A SHORT WIRE COMING OUT OF THE STEREO ...
IF YOU TRY AND TAP IT TO FULL RANGE SPEAKERS THAT ALREADY ARE CONNECTED TO AN AMPLIFIED SIGNAL THE SOUND WILL BE DISTORTED .......
POWERED SUB WOOFERS NEED A LINE LEVEL INPUT WHICH IS MUCH LOWER THAN SAY
SPEAKERS ALREADY RECEIVING AN AMPLIFIED SIGNAL.
POWERED WOOFER WILL ALSO NEED TO HAVE A 12 VOLT ELECTRICAL CONNECTION AND A GROUND WIRE TO OPERATE THE AMPLIFIER BUILT INSIDE.
IF YOU HAVE NO EXPERIENCE WITH THIS TYPE OF HOOK UP I WOULD STRONGLY RECOMMEND SOMEONE WHO DOES [ CAR AUDIO SHOP ]

How to hookup

hi,
if u want to hook up the sub with ur av receiver the connect the sub woofer output of ur AVR to any one (left or right) input of ur sub woofer. then connect its power . set the frequency range between 90 and 120Hz. set the volume of sub woofer to 40% of its total. also check the av receives speaker setting. goto speaker setup and make ON the sub woofer out.

if want to connect the sub to a stereo amp without sub out. then connect the amps speaker line to the speaker input of sub woofer and connect the speaker out of sub to left and right speaker ( make sure to connect the red to red and black to black). set the volume and frequency as above

Just got two AR 312 HO speakers from my brother. I have a Yamaha HTR 6250. The speakers have (2) sets of cable hook up. One I assume is for built in sub woofers? Do I hook one normal and one to the sub...

do not use those speakers with that amp, those are 4 ohm speakers, which could damage your 8 ohm yamaha amp. you will have to get a 4 ohm capable amp to run the highs, and another 4 ohm amp to run the subs.

car amplifiers are currently 4 ohm, or even 2/1 ohm stable, but few, if any modern receivers can run at anything lower than 8 ohms without a danger of overheating. you may have to get a vintage amp(s), like a 1970's marantz receiver, or a 1980's to early 1990's kenwood power amp, because 4 ohm home amps are pretty scarce nowadays.

whatever amp(s)( you get, verify that they are DEFINITELY 4 ohm stable.

Yamaha htr5230 hookup

Hi, Your receiver is really the same as my HTR 5240. Same back and front. basically. Go to Retrevo for manual. Shows all the hook ups. I have VCR , DVD, Tape Deck, hooked to mine but can't find the adapter so i can hook up my indoor fm antenna. All my components plug to back of receiver then there is one RCA wire running from receiver to Tv.
