The battery in my canon elph sd780 doesn't last long

The battery in my canon elph sd780 doesn't seem to last very long. It's only a few months old and lasted a long time at first but now only takes a few pictures then I get the "replace battery pack" message when I turn it on. Then I charge it and it's good for a few more pictures but very unreliable.

When I turn on the Canon SD780, it says the card is locked. Have tried about 10 cards and it says "card locked" on all of them. Purchased a new card and I get the same message. Cannot reformat...

This seems to be a particular issue with this model camera, noted by the archived Fixya problems listing for this model. Noting that the slide switch doesn't seem to correct this problem (resulting in 4 thumbs up) for the majority, the only other possibility is that the corresponding switch internal to the camera might be gummed up. As such, please see the "toothpick fix" (Fix #4) of this link.

Lens making strange clicking noise when turned on or zoomed in.

If the noise wasn't there for 3 days and is there now, it can only get worse. I would return it for a replacement.

Flash will not fire on Canon SD780 IS Elph

The flash circuit is defective. As it's only a couple weeks old, recommend just exchanging it for another from your place of purchase. You shouldn't be attempting repair while its under warranty.

My Canon Power Shot SD 630 Digital Elph

When was the last time that you replaced your rechargeable battery? It was only meant to last a couple years, regardless of the amount of its use. If the battery is old, a generic replacement is relatively inexpensive these days. Look for those rated 4 or 5 stars:
