I have a samsung 42 inch lcd i bought a yeah and a half ago. always has been working well.. i walked in and tried to turn it on last night and all the power button does is blink red, and my TV will not turn on.I called customer support and they were useless.

My best advice would be to call out your LG service repair engineer, it is most likely the current software in the TV is of an older version & will need to be re-programmed which an engineer should be able to check. This should cure the menu problem.
