1996 ford contour, started it this morning, turned it around to back into my parking spot, let the car warm up for about 15 minutes, got in, couldn't get it out of park, turn the car off, and now it wont start again. jumped it, it started, let it run for a little while, started to drive it, started chugging and then died, now it won't start again.

One thing to look at is the large black plastic "bellows" that comes from the intake plemun towards the air filter. It is common for these to get brittle and crack over time, especially in cold weather. The crack may be closed when the car is in neutral, but when you put it in gear, the engine moves a little and the crack opens up and creates a vacuum leak. Look it over real good and if you find a crack, some duct tape will provide a temporary solution. I hope this helps.

1996 Ford contour engine cooling fan comes on high about a minute after starting car and wont turn off or slow down.

Well it could be a problem with the fan relay, or it could be a safety feature of the computer.
if the computer finds a problem with the cooling fan or the engine temp sensor, it will turn on the fan to try to prevent overheating. Even if the engine is cold.
If the check engine light is not staying on, I would check the fan relay for power and ground.

1996 ford contour...lights work on dashboard; belts turning; tries to start but won't turn over

Someone will need to figure out if you are lacking fuel to the injectors, spark to the plugs, or if you have a mechanical problem with the engine such as a faulty timing belt.

My 1996 jeep grand cherokee is blowing cold air for the first 30 minutes of my ride home (20-degree weather), then warms up slightly but never gets hot -- i'm guessing heater core (it has 200k+ miles)

It is most likely a thermostat. As your car gets older the thermostat begins to lose its spring like properties and stays open all the time causing your car to never warm up.

If you can't tackle right away, start your car in the morning and let it run for about 15 minutes to warm up. Be sure to turn the heat on full blast and recirculate the air.

it sounds like you have a blend door problem. This is located in the HVAC sysem it closes a door from cold side to hot side. sounds like a bad servo motor or a vacuum leake on that motor. Hope this helps you, please rank this solution
