I have a Magnavox MSD805 VCR/DVD player. I want to use the tuner to get cable tv to my LCD projector. The problem I have is I only get a picture using a yellow composite feed to the project. I have outputs for compontent and S-Video which I do get a picture for a DVD but not for TV. I'm puzzled as I want the best possible picture. Thanks Greg

Audio out and video out should be connected to the tv using rca jacks. Or you can use the cable connection to the tv and set the tuner to channel 3 or 4.

The cable box IS an external tuner.  You should connect the video output (either S video, HDMI, or component video) of the cable box to the video input of the DVD.  Then connect the audio output of the cable box to the audio input of the DVD via stereo RCA cables.  If your tv monitor has multiple inputs (ie: video 1, 2, and 3...) connect the video and audio output of the DVD to your tv monitor using an alternate video input (if cable box goes into your tv thru video 1, connect the DVD to video 2).  If your cable box only has one output, or your tv has only one input, then just connect your cable box to the DVD as above, and connect the DVD to your tv.

You need to tune a chanel on your tv to the vcr signal, using an RF cable (aerial cable between vcr and tv). That is if your tv has an analogue tuner.

Are you saying you have NO rf input?

Magnavox (philips) is one of the cheapiest dvd/vcr combos that offer excellent quality on the market. If you have a cable box or Directv box, simply use the audio/video connections on the back and connect them in the combo, then you can record from the television programs whenever you want.

your model is "tuner free" that means it does not have the RF screw in connector. Buy one that has a tuner, preferably both ATSC(USA digital) and NTSC(USA analog)

Purchased a rf modulator and hooked in to the tuner out to modulator and from modulator to tv that made everything work
