I have a Canon Multipass F80 printer. In all modes and at all times, the amber "Alarm" light blinks, and the LCD display flashes a message that says "Check printer. Press Resume Key."

    --Restarting does not help.

--Opening and closing the printer, including removing and replacing ink cartridges, does not help.

--Disconnecting from and reconnecting to the power source does not help.

--Turning the printer off, removing the USB cable, then turning the computer back on and reconnecting the USB cable does not help.

    Help would be appreciated.

Nothing mentioned will clear the "Check Printer Press Resume Key" message. I do NOT use this F80 as a printer from a computer. It is only used as a copier and fax machine. Do I have to scrap this and get a new one?

When your printing? thats the problem? Remove the USB cable then turn off the printer, then turn on it again and plug in the USB cable on the USB port. See what will happen?

I too have the same problem so it must be inherent to this model. I had a low ink indication and replaced all ink cartridges and that's when the alarm indicator started flashing and there is nothing so far that I have found that can resolve this problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

PROBLEM COPYING WITH MY ALL- IN- ONE

This message is inbuilt into most Canon printers, there is spongy thing in the printer which when fills up fires the message (it's mostly a counter in the printer, which can be reset more later...), per Canon this can only be dealt with in a lab but some of the more adventurous have tried cleaning it by themselves. Note that in a lab they won't clean it, it's a part that needs replacing and it might cost around $60. In most Canon printers there is a reset procedure that can reset the error and allow you to print some more before handling it again. Following are the reset procedures for some of the Printers: (not that F60 isn't listed here) Canon GENERIC "S" SERIES RESET CODE Waste Ink Counter Reset. (1) Turn off the printer. (2) Press and hold the RESUME button, then press and hold the POWER button. (3) Release the RESUME button, Next press and release the RESUME button two(2) more times in succession. Note: you are still holding the POWER button). The printer's carriage will "reset" or move momentarily. If the above was properly performed the printer will enter the "Service Mode". (4) Press the RESUME button 4 times, this will select the clear waste ink counter function. The lamp will alternate (change) color with each key press. 1. Service/Factory test printout, including ink sensor check. 2. EEPROM - Info printout. 3. EEPROM - Initialization. 4. Reset the Waste ink counter. 5. Printer model setting. (More selections beyond this point - However it is best leave them unaltered - You have been warned!)
