You have an self winding watch and to wind is up fully using the self winding mechanism you need to shake it for some time.

I think it is likely that you can winding it manually using the crown. You may have to pull the crown out to find the manual winding position.

The crown may be locked in and if it doesn't pull out , try turning it anticlockwise then pull it out.

You should have some instructions with your watch, if you haven't contact your supplier and ask for a copy.

If you wish to find your nearest retailer, go to "Brietling.com" for a store locator.

Timex electric watc will only tick for few seconds when shaken

Battery watches don't normally restart with a shake unless the warmth of you hand has squeezed a little more of a reaction out of the cell. Are you absolutely sure its electric? they don't normally tick as such. If you turn the winder when pushed in is ther resistance one way and clicking ratchet the other? if so you have a mechanical watch if not you probably have a battery watch that needs a new battery.

I usually shake my Rolex (Datejust Oyster Perpetual) because it slides to one side, but when I shake it, the second hand sometimes stops. Once I shake it again, it begins to tick again. I have tried...

What's the question? From you description of the troubles you are having I suspect that your watch may on the outside look like a Rolex, but it certainly does not behave like one. I have never had such erratic behavior even with my much cheaper, but authentic Casios.

Please stop telling people Rolex watches don't tick.

Yes, absolutely correct , all automatic watches tick and the fake Rolexes just tick a bit slower so it is more visible.

10 year old Seiko Kinetic (model5M62-0B00) blue face. Last week stopped and after some shaking started again but seconds moved in 2 sec intervals for a few hours. Went OK for a week and again last night...

After 10 years it will be likely that the Kinetic capacitor will need upgrading. Your watch is designed to tick in two second intervals to tell you the power is very low. The power button will work again when it has some power to show. Yorkshire Watches www,yorkshirewatches.co.uk can do the upgrade for you if your in the UK. Give them a ring.

In reading the movado 800 quartz chronographic instruction manuel there are 3 settings for the crown. the first is the one in which you generally wear it. the second position states it will stop the watch...

The time should only stop when the crown is pulled all the way out in the third positiion... In the second position the 2nd hang should continue to tick and you should only be able to move the hour hand on the watch

Second hand stops, then ticks four ticks very fast then stops,

It may be that the battery is getting near the end of its life.

Seconds ticker jumps,stops,jumps

It means that the reserve power is getting low and the energy cell needs to be fully recharged by exposing it to light for a period of time outlined in your owner's manual. This may also occur after fully recharging your watch after a complete discharge of the energy cell. If you have fully charged your watch and the second hand continues to move in two second intervals, you need to do an all reset of the watch. For simple analog models, pull the crown out to the time setting position for 30 seconds, then return the crown to the closed position next to the case, then set the time. For multi-function models, please refer to your owners manual.

Your band may be too loose. This is the model that moves when worn correct?

Watch stopped after not being used for several days

The shaking is not the best way to restart the automatic watch as it puts slight strain on watch balance wheel and hairspring (most delicate part in watch).
As watch balance wheel is positioned paralel(leveled) to watch dial, you have to spin your watch back and forth a few times quite quickly.
(Imagine you are turning steering wheel in your car- thats the right motion). Before doing that wind up your watch a few times manually.
Right after doing that observe the seconds hand and if it is ticking just a little bit or ticking back and forth and then stops- your watch has jammed gear train and this is the reason why it stops.
If you don't have seconds hand- after shaking your watch listen for ticking and again- if it stops after short run, the gear train is to blame. In this case you will need watchmakers help as special skills and tools are needed to sort this out.
Do not forget to rate, please.
